Mikau, with all due respect...  I don't think you made the best of choice for your co-chair.  Have a look at what he's done here, in this topic, and its sister.

Is that what you want representing the convention?

I can't speak for others, but I can say that I wouldn't go anywhere near a convention run by Dyllan the Frequent Namechanger.

Regarding vfur, there are many furs that refuse to move from the mailing list to the forums.  Every time there is a furmeet, and the information does not get forwarded to the mailing list, many furs get angry, irate, because they want their notifications as to furmeets.  I'm almost willing to bet that they do not wish to subscribe to Twitter either.

Trapa recently purchased a vfur domain, and he has plans for it, which I will need to get details of before I can state what they are...
Well, Felix, there are a few things I have a reply to in your statement... to begin, I did not create the forums to represent VF, Omanashi did that, so therefore I am not taking any form of credit for it, except for the name of the convention. As far as his recent activity that speculated around the forums posted by him that caused a lot of spark and ire from others towards him, look, just give him a break, alright? He's been under a ton of stress lately, and I know I was silently shaking my head when he wasn't being professional and cussing a lot towards others in many of his forum posts which had led to his ban in the first place.

However, as chairman of the convention and the lead administrator of the entire show, please do remember that I'm calling the shots here, and as he is a web and graphic designer, I have asked him, quite politely of course, to build the website slowly. I will be taking care of the forums, in fact not also performing maintenance on them on a select date and time, and we both have came to an agreement on that, and will request help about the forums from him if need be.

As for others who are hardcore to the max about the mailing lists, I'll definitely agree, but there comes a time and place where they must move on and progress ahead, like I did when I first started to get pissed off because the information was not being relayed from one end to another. As for those who don't want to subscribe to Twitter, I'm definitely one of those people, as I hate all personal webspace sites (with the exception of a very select few) with an unbridled passion. It's nice that Trapa and a few others want to keep VFur alive as best as possible with an e-defibrillator unit, but y'know, there are some things in life that may not just have the vigor again that it once had. Like Woody Allen. In the great road of life, there are things that should just be left for what they were and move forward. I know people are afraid of change and even wish to do what they can in order to stop it, but they'd be fighting a losing battle.

I guess some things just never change...
I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can beat scissors, but there's no way paper can beat rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around rock, leaving it immobile? Why can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody; a rock would tear it up in two seconds. When I play Rock-Paper-Scissors, I always choose rock. Then, when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist, and say, "Oh sorry, I thought paper would protect you."

I agree with Felix on this subject.  Reno abused his administrative position on numerous occasions.  In a few cases, strictly out of spite.  Heck! I was banned from this very Forum.  All because, he and I had a heated disagreement over MSN.
Now think.  Mikau, whats to say he won't do something like that to you?  Should you two not see eye to eye.

[My reply came in to late for the transfer.] :P

I did give him a break, Mikau.

I tried to calm him down, I tried to tell him that what he is doing is wrong, I tried to tell him that he should not take actions like this while he is angry, and I tried to do everything I could to keep these problems from happening.

Now I feel as though I have lost a friend, because he not only disrespected me, but everything I stand for.  The breaks are over.  I can only be so tolerant of childish behavior like that.

He even invited a buddy with a bit more knowledge than him about how the internet works, to take the forums down.  We actually suffered like 12 minutes of downtime the night he was banned because of the attack.  It probably would've been longer if I weren't talking with a few people that Rino was bragging to.  We all thought he was just blowing off steam until the board went down, followed by him IM'ing all of us, cheering about his feat... at which point I phoned Ratt, so that he could make repairs.

Hehe... A little obvious. x3

Reno has no tact, while going incognito.  Like a colorful clown trying to hide in a business sector, during lunch let out.

:P

Ember

Have you ever ran a vulnerability scanner on either of Reno's domains?

I have.

Lets just say he should be glad that none of the many people here with the skills have decided to take him down.

Vanilla Skunk

You shouldn't be telling me these things, Ember... I'm trying to stay OUT of trouble. :P

I agree that one saying their professional and acting professional are two universal opposites. Seems like respecting others dies with that as well.

I guess when you have a list of "accomplishments" you tend to hold yourself higher than others in your own mind oops did I say that! :P

Im honestly siding with pretty much everyone here after everything that happened with me and the aforementioned  >:(

It seems to me that Mikau is avoiding the conversation.

I guess it may be a little difficult in convincing people who have had to deal with the very delinquencies that caused Rino's ban.  Delinquencies which have occurred over pretty much the entire duration of the forum's lifetime.

I guess it would be considered a waste of time.

I don't think being stressed out would be a very good excuse to act this way, when you're always stressed out.

Additionally, the professional thing to do when you're too  stressed out to deal with drama, is to ask one of your co-workers to deal with it, or calm down first.  I stopped posting here the moment I felt the urge to wring someone's neck, and waited until I could think clearly enough to say my peace without saying angry things, or things that I don't mean.

I understand that it is disrespectful to speak of someone behind their back, but smetimes it is necessary.  Rino is fine for web design, but completely unsuitable for any kind of chairperson position.

I would suggest Rino goes to school again, and takes business management courses, and profesionalism theory.  Then he might be able to keep a position like that under control.

As a completely random piece of trivia, the old, old Vancouver furry group (c. 1995) was also called "VancouFur", though due to its having been conducted entirely through email and in person you'll just have to trust me on that one.

Maybe I already mentioned that.

Anyway, yeah, Rino has pretty much expended all of his social capital with most of this group, and the group of people to draw from to run a furry con in this city isn't huge. I believe he is what one would refer to as an "albatross" in this context.

Vanilla Skunk

It seems the website for the convention has turned itself into a pokemon tourney site.

What's going on, Man?

Drake Wingfire

Wait people were serious about that con?.....

it kinda takes a lot of mature and fiscally stable people to even attempt to start a con. Web sights are a dim a dozen :P

Vanilla Skunk

Well, I don't know Mikau very well... There is also a wikifur article about it, so I don't really know.

Eh. Anyone can make a Wikifur page. I noticed the person who created it has made no other edits, too, so I assume it was someone who was motivated to add it specifically and not someone who just happened to hear about it.
