I used to be really into amateur radio operation. It's been a quite a while though since i fired up the old transceiver. It might even still be in the attic.
i've been acquiring all types of radio equipment, i'm looking to get a few CB a few more 2 meter and some HAM units
i've got a bigass handheld CB that has changable frequency crystals, but only has 6 presets

i have a couple of Children's Band radios for sale if you are interested.  let me know.  i think one is a side band.  have mics and one antenna but no mount.

they are in storage at first and renfrew area, so let me know and i can go dig them out.
1 ton truck available for hire.  contact me by personal message for info

There already is an APRS packet network on 144.39MHz.  I'm sure there are several repeaters in the area, and there's always 146.52 simplex.

i've noticed the 144.000-144.990 frequencies had some noise going on

I don't know the repeaters in your area, I'm in the Kootenays, but have a look at http://furryhams.org/  There's at least one furryham in Vancouver, or any ham in the area will be able to help you out.
Here's a link to the 2m bandplan http://www.rac.ca/en/rac/services/bandplans/2m/   FM repeater inputs start at 144.500.  No FM below that.
