The "comment virginity" game.

This game of posting "stole your comment virginity" to new accounts should be banned.

This gets posted to pretty much every single account that makes their first post on this forums. It is a horrendous introduction to our community and it should be stopped.

We have many new furs and for many of them this forum is their first contact with the community at whole. Some intellectually challenged individual posting this to their account is pretty much the worst representation our community can have.

In case some of you idiots don't get it, you're essentially posting "I raped you!" to almost every single person that joins here; many of these people are children for fucks sake.

Moderators: do something about it.

If this is an open discussion, I'd like to openly discuss.

I had such a comment levied at me during the first few days that I signed up here. I thought it was rather comical and a good-natured joke. I would have found it offensive, to be sure, had the user said "I've stolen your virginity" but instead he added the word "comment" and I was able to see it as it was: a perfectly harmless jest. Technically, what he was saying was "I've raped your comment section" which has no literal or physical implications for me, someone behind a computer screen. ;)

Hi 24 year old male that presumably wasn't a virgin when the post was made for you.

Wanna bet that a kid feels differently?

zenia

Yeah, if I was underage, or if the person posted something like "I raped your comments!" I would be quite upset.

Ja'Nathun

I'm worried we're jumping to some conclusions here by the use of "what if" scenarios. If people are saying "I raped you!" and/or "I raped your comments!" then certainly, I'd agree it would be more than disconcerting; however, if what most of them are saying is actually little more than "I stole your comment virginity" then the issue has just as much potential to be entirely benign. Let us not forget what sorts of times we live in, where sexual activity is known to our children long before they reach my age.

It's not a "what if." It happens with every single new account on this forum.

It's also not just a matter of the kids joining the forum. It's a piss poor first introduction to us.

It is not funny, it serves no purpose and it's detrimental to the community. It needs to stop.

I have to ask what the fuck you think "I stole your virginity" means.

I believe it is a "what if" scenario we're talking about here. The accusation you've made in your opening post, that these sorts of individuals are posting the equivalent to the words "I raped you" requires a certain amount of evidence to show that this is indeed what is happening. Such evidence would take the form of users reporting they felt "I raped you" was an adequate analysis of the words said to them in that post, or that there are visible cases here where users posted exactly the words "I raped you." Without any such evidence to substantiate your claims, your accusations could easily be dismissed on several grounds, not the least of which being that you were making an entirely unfounded claim.

A lawyer, or an impartial judge of this situation would think just these things.

I'd be happy to tell you outside of the context of this discussion, but my views are not on trial here, and if they are I don't believe we're having an open discussion anymore.

You sound disappointed. I can help find you someone to help with that if you like :P

Gosh, I'm sorry. I hadn't realized some felt so strongly about it.  :-X

I am kinda on the fence here, all i can really say was the "first post" comment virginity thing seems just pointless and silly to me. Its not like you are even saying "hey welcome!" just in essence "haha got first post on your page, byee!" Just can come across as ditzy.

Carl Foxmarten

While I don't mind the joking nature that the comments have been made in, I do agree that it isn't really an activity that's very welcoming.

Also: Ember. While I agree that this can be a bit of a touchy subject, your attitude is coming across as rather antagonistic.

I was "devirginized" before officially introducing myself to the furry community. It did, initially, give me a "what have I gotten myself into?" sort of feeling. In retrospect, I attribute this partially to shyness, and partially to my naiveté on forums in general. But then, I'm 24, and "coming out of the furry closet" was not a decision I made lightly. I didn't join this forum to lurk, or because it seemed like a cool thing to do. I joined because I wanted to meet furries. And now that I've actually met a lot of you in person (including said "devirginizer") and found you all be to more-or-less friendly, that first comment on my profile page seems like an insignificant issue.

My experience with the furry community has been overwhelmingly positive. Just look at all the responses to introduction threads. I'm so glad that newcomers receive such a warm welcome here. I don't think I would have started attending events if not for all the welcomes I received when I first started posting. And that includes the ones that seemed a little odd at first.

I dunno, I think it's pretty easy to tell what's being meant. No real rape is implied.

Though a "Hey, what's up?" is SO MUCH better. Something that promotes actual conversation is way more welcoming.
