Please do not feed the troll.
This is serious.

Agreed. Trolling and feeding of it, is not necessary.

Lunar, I'm glad your alright. Albeit a little mentally scuffed but i'm glad things turned out possitively for you that night.

People that do shit like this, makes me ashamed to be human. Humans are flawed, but that doesn't mean we need to play into the broken society. :/
ya know you are the first person who actually made me laugh at the humor of the situation.... thanks ^_^
~Hugs~
i guess its cause i wanted to say, not mentally rattled at all. In fact it just stirred up a slew of revenge fantasies.  Oke in the moment of course a mix of anger and worry but after being assure i was safe ... well.. xD
best way to explain without sounding odd is .. im proof positive that every human being has revenge fantasies that are quite nasty. everything from practical, to fanatical, to down right scary. I think its cause in a moment we felt weak and powerless and our own brain strives to regain balance by filling our heads with thoughts in which we feel powerful again. self medication lol. im sure it would be scary if we all could hear what angry revenge fantasies each other think from time to time.. xD  I used to be ashamed of it like i felt guilt it made me into a horrible person but when i realized everyone does it from time to time, it kinda makes me laugh. Im sure that thoughts of turning into a werewolf and ripping an opponent to shreds are some of the more tame fantasies ha ha ha.  blah

grim but funny .

thanks for making me laugh.

Oh man, Really glad your safe!
This shouldn't even exist. I think you should file some sort of report against them or something.
It will probably happen again with them being out there on the loose.
Were they under the influence of alcohol or dugs?

~~Shadowwolf

truthfully one of my secrets of survival in daily life is having "modes" usually on a buss im in tuning out to music mode which makes me oblivious to my surroundings but also silent and still enough to not attract attention, and also probably not hear any provoking remarks at all.
Talking on a phone ... well.. i may not do that in public anymore, apparently my voice was all it took to be a big target, had nothing to do with what i was talking about. if i was older or a women i wouldn't have been targeted, its because they saw me as weak and then attacked.
sorry off topic, my point in saying all this is that i was so tuned out regardless i didn't even notice them around me on the buss until one of them grabbed me.

Well i'm glad you got a chuckle out of it. :3

Its true, we all have nasty little revenge fantasies. XD Its weather or not we act on them that makes us who we are :3
Those people who attacked you, succumbed to their broken logic and fear and felt the need to physically regain power and because of it, they are quite the weaker ones regardless of weather they realize it or not. :3 To be honest, i wonder what was REALLY going through their heads? Was it all pure hatred? Or was it really "OH NOES. ITS A GAY! D:" and just acted like ignorant little assholes. I've always been the type of person who enjoys learning about the mentalities of people. The mind is a boggling thing. Something i'd love to learn more about. :3 (I didnt want to be a psychologist for no reason. Ahaha. XD Never went through with it though.)

With freaks like these in our city, it's amazing that my folks wonder why I got a fire-arms license =\ Not that it'd do me any good, but still.

Lunar I'm going to echo everybody else here in saying that I'm glad you're alright. I know what these situations are like, and it takes a while to recover from hurt pride and all the damaged feelings shit like this causes. But you handled that situation as good as you possibly could have, and you walked away unscathed. Good on you.

Honestly, I'm just glad I'm reading about this here and not under another hate-crime assault headline in the paper.

My sympathy for you, Lunar. I've been through similar on more than one occasion (One incident back in Calgary did turn physical, and I still have a small scar blended into my eyebrow from that one; An inch lower and I would have lost the eye). Homophobia is unfortunately rampant, one of the many contributing factors for why you will never find me visiting a religious institution of any kind or creed. Simple ignorance, frustration and 'holy dogma' combine to form a scapegoat the unintelligent may latch onto, as an excuse to elevate themselves above another human being for entirely petty reasons. I have some rather ugly social-Darwinistic views of how the matter should be addressed, that need not be stated however.
~hugs~ thanks, i don't know if it was just my voice or if i came off as gay. its stupid really because what men like this conciser gay isnt actually about gayness. its about them thinking you are weaker. which is insulting to women considering gay people are references  as acting femine or being girly men. so every time they call a gay man gay they are admitting they also think women are weaker because one stems from an observational reference of the other.

Couldn't have said it better myself. ^_^ Though i got a real look inside these peoples souls . you know there's a difference in how you feel around someone in public and say around a prison inmate, an inmate you dont turn your back on because regardless of what they say and act you never want to be in a situation where they pull out a shank and kill you.  in civilized public we dont expect it which is why we lock up those that cant exist in public. i guess what i mean to say is these guys scared me when i processed their irrationally aggressive behavior because its like inmates waiting to happen. not saying they may kill someday and be happy about it. most criminals kill and are instantly remorseful but usually its because they realized they messed up their life more than guilt over killing.

I agree with you Brittany, given the seriousness.

First off, I'm glad you're OK. It could have been a lot worse.

File a report with police regardless, given the seriousness of this. Lope is a witness, as he heard the whole thing on the phone, so there is, at the very least, an audio record of it. There might even be a video record of it too, if there were cameras on the bus. Be sure to mention that. Insist on getting a file number, so that you can follow up.

The fact that you (Lunar) reported it now means there is a record of the incident on file.  When these guys target someone else the victim/s will likely report parts of their incident that will be similar to your incident. (Notice that I said when these guys target someone else, I'm quite sure they have done this kind of thing before and will do so again.)  The more information and case history that is collected on individuals responsible for this kind of asshattery; the more trouble they will get into when they are caught.  Everyone should remember to report incidents like this and make sure that you use the words "hate crime"  to describe it because that is exactly what we are dealing with here.

Bigoted behavior frequently comes in several flavors simultaneously. When someone is willing to step over the mental boundaries we set for ourselves when we properly understand what ethical behavior is, they aren't too concerned about what yard they traipse into. Homophobia, misogyny/misanthropy, religious intolerance, racism, any flavor of bigotry. The term is a useful catch-all for 'atavistic waste of meat'. I'm rather jaded about humanity nowadays owing to individuals like this. Sadly, this sort of behavior is frequently generational, not societal. So long as there are parents who are unchecked in their bigoted impingement on the rights of others, they will continue to teach their children that Group X is hell-bound/dirty/derogatory remark here because of Y (or not even 'because of Y', just because). It's a spiteful, regrettable kind of mental child abuse, to forge a human being into a little shred of hate like these individuals. They aren't to be feared. They should be pitied for what they've let themselves become, a waste of a mind.

I may suggest looking into basic self-defense courses. Focus on judo or equivalent, a style oriented towards breaking out of locks, defensive throws, and take-downs. Something to give you the time and physical fitness to escape. No hard art focused on striking is going to help you escape a situation, only worsen its severity.

I'm not sure what to post. I am sorry this happened to you. That sounds really scary. Are you alright?  :-\

shit man... thats just crazy.

All it makes me wanna do is make sure I never go to Vancouver again without some bear mace.. I would pretty much advise on getting some mace or something yourself if that's what people are like around there...

Good thing its reported though.

I feel like brutally bashing the shit out of those guys after reading this, not gonna lie.  I had to defend a few gay friends in when I was high-school and the same anger is getting activated now as it did then.  I'm glad you made it away from them, but I feel ill knowing that they're still out there being shitheads.  Kudos for your strategic thinking instead of panicking on the spot.  Not many people would be able to do that.

Like everyone, I'm glad you're alright.  Having been harassed during most of my school years by gay bashers (ironic, because I was definitely 100% straight and straight acting all through that time- these people have their own issues to sort out!) I feel you.  Its hard not to want to get revenge.  Funny enough, the guy who was the worst about it went bug to winshield with a Semi while riding his motorbike in the fog - within 6 months of Grad  .

Also interesting.  Studies show that the men who are most aroused by homoerotic images are generally homophobes.  I think there are deeper psychological problems that these testosterone-fueled Bromancers have and are trying to deal with inner turmoil by lashing out.

You reacted the right way though, walking away and filing a report.  Theres only so much you can do!
