If anyone says they "they never wanted to be an astronaut", at any point of their childhood. They are lying...
That aside...
When I was a kid I always wanted to be a Ghostbuster. : P
I'd have loved to be a pilot, but my eyesight's got issues, so that was pretty much out.
These days? Either a travel writer, successful enough novelist to live off it, or poker hero. *g*
Viking.
Or a bear.
Honestly, it would have to be a pilot, i really love flight, and i find aircraft so interesting, i really would go for a helicopter pilot
You can fly as long as your eyesight is correctable to 20/20. Even as a fighter pilot iirc.
Any other aviator furs around?! I'd love to meet some?

I really looked into that career, and the demands tend to stack and availability is poor.
Fighter pilots are required to be a certain size. Not only is the cockpit small as heck, smaller framed people stand a better chance with downward pulling G-forces.
I am sure its not just the millions spent on training and equipment, that drives the united states to produce massive flash operations just to recover downed fighter pilots. Only certain people fit the bill.
40 jets over 800 CAF pilots. Good luck :-
Being an American would help. Their air force is pretty big and with a larger variety of fixed winged air crafts.

You would be the first person(that I know) of an eastern decent, to have actually said he wanted to be a Viking... Did some part of you die while typing that *snickers* xP
Kidding!

I'm actually 1/4 Viking - that's how I came to have such a Nordic last name (Carlson).
I'm also 1/4 bear, just can't back that one up.

I wanted to be a zoologist for a long time, but when I actually went to school I opted out of that because I didn't feel like there was a lot I could do with just a bachelor's. Nowadays I'd really like to get into usability, industrial design, something like that.
Heh, Carlson... I think that is a pretty substantial name in the Nordic culture.
Better grow that mean viking beard of yours. *goes to make mead*
Butler or Chauffeur and radio drama producer
Character animator... And am slowly working my way up for it =)
Draazy wants to be a tattooist. And soon I get to make that a reality :3 -dances-
I never wanted a specific job - mainly just to be able to do something with my art.
warlord of destruction and mayhem. or i dunno what ever

I have little to no depth perception and peripheral vision on one side. I don't think anyone would want me flying in close formation with them. *g*
My vision is excellent, i have not been tested, but i can read road signs from a LONG distance, and on most nights i can drive without any headlights on (tried it a few times, i pretty well dont need em XD)
I remember that even though I was young, I still really wanted to be a Video Game Tester when I found out it was a job you could be paid for. They made it look like so much fun that that old show "Popular Mechanics for Kids". I now was given that chance for EA as a summer job. It was still a lot of fun but not as fun as expected. I wouldn't mind giving it another shot though.
When I was a young pup.... ~thinking~ I had a few, but the one that pops into my head... everyone can laugh. I wanted to be a Power Ranger. The pink one... yup. That was my dream job when I was younger and now it's just what ever job I can get and a dream in my head that I want to make into reality in a few years time if I can.

Yeah... man... playtesting. I did that for EA back in 2002 myself and I absolutely hated it, though I hear it's not as bad as it once was with crunch time and all (any truth to that?). I just remember working 13 hours a day every single day for a month.
There was lots of team camaraderie, but there pretty much had to be to keep you from going insane. It's one of those jobs that makes you say "wow, playing video games for money? Sign me up!" and then the truth is that you don't so much "play" the game as hammer on a certain part of it over and over and over.
Audio engineer + producer. I'd like to run my own studio and record label, with time to still DJ and do live mixing on the road for bands.
Big goals!
I am in line to be an audio engineer myself, but coming up with the money for the equipment is tricky.
Don't enroll at PAVI D: Sure their facility looks nice but they don't give you studio time, and if they do its just to point out all the sweet equipment you will never be able to touch... >___>
Harbourside Institute of Technology is a local school worth investing in, if you want to be trained with sound works and recording and have significant studio practice. : )
Well funnily enough when Chi was younger he actually wrote a poem about how he wanted to be a writer and that poem (which was seriously a journal entry NOT a poem... but since every teacher in the school disagreed. photocopied and posted it frakkin everywhere I gave up) eventually ended up being published so... Go Me ^_^
Well then, do you have a copy or a link to this poem? I must read it. : O

Thanks for telling me dude, cause I actually had PAVI in mind...
Right now ideally would probably be the Art Institute... the program is 2 and a half years and totally accredited.
A good idea, seeing that Harbourside has been around for a few years now, but they are not accredited.
But their business ethics seem solid.
My dream job... to be everyone's friend... and always have a busy schedule with my friends. Heh... Hard life, makes me just want friends more than anything.

I don't know if it's different for audio, but AI is getting a bad rep in the video game / film industries for art, programming, etc. I hear they've really gone downhill in the last few years.
I always and still want to be on stage in a metalband, rocking out in front of Thousands of fans, watching there fist pump in the air to the beat!
Now more realisticly, id love to be a private guitar teacher :)
aviation service technician would be my dream job... I would never get a comeback then!
HA HA! LOL although... dont you think its just better when something like a tire falls off? rather then say.. i dont know, an aileron? XD
Just saying that... its kinda scary isnt it?
Air Force
I had mine for a little while. But it was ruined for me.
Worked as a goldsmith. Heck, even got to design pieces for people. But I was underpaid, under-appreciated and generally treated like garbage by the crooked, demented little family that ran the place.
I didn't touch jewellery for a couple years. But since I got out here, I've been able to set up a little shop in the basement. I can't wait to get back into it and hopefully make a bit more money off it this time.
my dream job. well that would most likely have to be a concept artist for a large video game company, but I'm not good enough yet to be able to do that. hopefully one day.
Pro sports mascot, I can proudly say, I'v been there, done that! ;D
To be a writer I guess... from hardcore pornographic novels, to writing a furry novel.... the type of thing that catches a lot of peoples attention due to the strangeness of it.
Dream job: to be a dolphin trainer at a research lab that works with their animals on a one-to-one basis, and develop a strong friendship with the animals during the job.
.. Oh wait. Ya, done that :) I spent what was left of my school money on doing that! Gawd I wish the lab and dolphins were still around. I really miss Phoenix :(
Ok, then my dream job is to be able to afford the things I want in life and still enjoy what I do. A house, decent car, dog, occasional electronic and gadget stuff, and being able to provide a good time and lifestyle for those close to me, including friends when they visit. That, right there, is the dream job of everyone, i would think.
In the end, I hope to retire running a whale watch company out somewhere in northern vancouver island.
Remember, it's not how much money you make. It's how much money you need to do the things that make you happy.
I've always, and still do want to be a professional race/drift driver.
or a military sharpshooter.
and to be more realistic, I plan to try to follow a career as a mechanical engineer/factory supervisor in Japan.
I'd like to be a fighter pilot, a WRC driver, F1 driver, military sniper (though the killing of people doesn't interest me) level designer (hopefully when I am done school), automotive electrical engineer, automotive journalist at the same level as TopGear, or a huge lottery winner. :P
I want to be a famous DJ, like Deadmau5 (Pronounced Dead mouse) or something. One that produces their own music, and is a DJ that gets to DJ at all the big raves/massives. :)
I will be a DJ, but I doubt I'd reach anywhere near the famous, or the semi-famous marker. :(
I want to be a designer for Nintendo's advertisements... the ones they post in Quebec are incredibly lame, and I always dreamed up some much better ones... and also merchandise too!
Always wanted to be a game designer since I was a kid ^_^
I ended up going into programming instead of design because the pay is better and you don't have to go through QA to climb up the rungs! (psst, QA sux <_<)
I'd ultimately like to have my own indy game studio so I can do both programming and design, though.

Sure is. private pilot here :3 Maybe we should start another thread for some plane-talk?
I got my pilots license at 19. But I'd never planned for that to be a career. I've just always been fascinated by aviation and civil aviation has always been such a big part of my life having grown up in the Alaska Bush.
I've had a hard time deciding what my dream job would be since forever. its not Mechanical engineering that I went to college for, thats for sure. I guess I'd just like to be a technician of sorts for complex Audio/video electronic installations, like what we produce at my company.
I also dream of just being able to get away from it all and become a drifter; living out of my backpack. But I think realistically I would get sick of that and I dont have the charisma to pull it off either.
Regional Haul Truck driver, or get on with the City of Kamloops, North Van or even St-Albert, AB Streets Divisions. That way, I could run all sorts of fun stuff.
i wanted to be a sting officer. aka dress up like a ho and lure creeps into my room where more cops bust thier ass >:)
I when I was a wee lad, I wanted to be a Doctor.
Then I wanted to be a Chef.
Then I wanted to be a Cop.
Then I wanted to be in CSIS.
Then I wanted to be an Animator.
Now I don't know what the hell I wanna do, but Ambulance Attendant is constantly being advertised to me.

Yup, and if you can be happy making said money at the same time, even better. n_n
I still have delusions of grandeur when it comes to fronting a band and actually finishing and making my own album, touring the world and having fun. :P Maybe one day I won't be such a slacker...
I used to want to get into game design (specifically level design), but ended up doing generic IT stuffs... for a record label. :P I'm doing something I'm good at (IT), related to something I love (music) - for a dayjob it's pretty awesome. :D I'm gonna keep working on my own material and we'll see how things go in the future.
Food critic!
I'd eat too much and be fatkitty though =/
