I just finished the paperwork for moving into my new place as of next week or so, hopefully, so I'm posting right now just to put out feelers and see if anyone's interested in rooming up. :P

I've yet to nail down the details like price or anything, and will be trying to take some better pictures once I'm all settled in, but I do like the idea of helping make another little fur house rather than looking for random people on Craigslist or something. n_n

That said, here's some nice bullet-form info:

  • 4BR/2Bath Rancher, washer/drier/fridge/stove-oven/dishwasher, 2 fireplaces (not sure if ornamental or functional) in 2 living rooms, large back yard and shed.
  • A block and a half or so from King George SkyTrain (map)
  • Pets are OK, and there will eventually be pets (2 cats, 2 birds, possibly rats) for sure. :p  Those with allergies need not apply... I'm not sure on the big-dog aspect of it - I've never lived with or dealt with dogs; I may want a little bit of a damage deposit in that case.
  • Planning on possibly using this part-time as a jamming/practice space for my band - daytime only, of course, and flexible scheduling.  Maybe some home recording as well once I have the gear.
  • That said, I really don't care too much about noise as long as it's down at night time; I'm a regular 9-5er and need my sleep. :O
  • No real heaters; it's all electric baseboard type stuff - the house is fairly old.  Same for A/C - BYO, or I may look into getting some in the future.
  • I'd expect everyone to pitch in when it comes to chores - do your own dishes (or we set up a rotation or something; make it as fair as possible), help vacuum/sweep, that sort of thing.  I can be a little messy myself, but I want to try and keep the place as neat as possible.
  • GBLT/etc.-friendly.  I will be having my girlfriend over lots (and she may be moving in in the near future); feel free to have your boy/girl/whatever-friend(s), too.  I honestly think this bullet point is superfluous (who really cares about this stuff in this day and age?), but for those who want to be sure..

Some crappy iPhone pics from when I was first looking at the place.

I'm probably just looking to fill two bedrooms right now (two people or more if you're a couple / sharing a room) - I'd like to keep one bedroom spare as a guest room or room for pets (e.g. aviary for g/f's birds, some kitty climbing things, who knows) or music gear or something.  There's one bathroom at one end for the upstairs master bedroom (i.e. mine), and another one shared for the other 3 rooms.

Again, I'm hoping to move in next weekend, get settled in, get some more pictures, and probably be available for roomies Oct. 1st or later (oh god so much unpacking to do... probably the 15th or even Nov 1st at this rate x.x;); I'm in no rush as I can actually afford the place on my own just barely.  That said, if anyone is interested, let me know. :P

Updated: We're soomgnotready quite yet...

Is there still an opening for this? I'm actually just down the road from the King George station myself (about 25min walk) but I need to find a place by the end of the month if at all possible. How much would you be expecting for rent each month? Right now that's my biggest issue.

Just to let you know, I a fennec and dwarf bunny and a salt water tank which only takes up half a table.

Just talking with Star on this - she's worried that a) her cat(s) may hurt your bunny, b) the fennec and cats will hurt each other.  She has a feral female cat that's a bit of a hunter and will go after anything.  And c) the fennec may go for her birds as she takes them out of the cage for the time that she's home.

We don't have any tables for the salt water tank, but presumably you have that on something already.

Do you let the fennec out throughout the house normally or is he/she caged?  (Seriously worried about the one cat as she will likely attack it/NOT play)

I have cages both animals and yes I do have a table for the tank. Autumn my bunny usually stays in his cage at all times. I do take him out for a little stretch time but I have a fence that I can put around him and he's never out unsupervised. Abu the fennec will usually stay to his cage. He tends to default to it whenever something bad happens. I'll l have to see the house and determine what he can have access to or not. I'd be more concerned about him making it out a door and outside. I do have a retractable lead and harness for him but he doesnt' exactly like it. He does like cats and will try to play with them but learns really fast who is ok and who isn't. My room mate has an older cat and they sometimes play but Grey doesn't really care about the fennec much. Abu will stay locked up when I'm not home or if the other animals are out.

If you want, I can bring Abu over in a cage so you two can get a little visit with him during one afternoon.

Thanks - feel free to move (or let me know how I can move) the thread to wherever is applicable - and yeah, a Housing board sounds like a good idea with the influx of related threads the past little while. :p

TarekCoyote

again i wanna state i am still interested but i am going to wait a little bit , may i ask that if it comes down to the last slot being available to let me know? I should have a semblance of a clue of whats going to be happening around that time..

My male cat I'm not so worried about he's laid back and will play with anything. Fatawny my female cat would most likely seriously harm your Fennec. That's what I'm concerned about.

Fennecs need a lot of room. Just like a cat or dog or any other animal. So being caged isn't too kosher if its every day all the time. When I'm not home my birds are caged, then as soon as I'm home until I sleep they are up and out of their cage, following me around or playing with their toys. If I was home all the time they'd never even have a cage lol

I do plan on getting some Rats too, I house trained my last two, and also plan to do the same. Luckily they chase after my cats to try and play and Samson, my male, runs away lickity split. Fatawny I always watch, or don't even have in the same room. She does play with them but I wouldn't trust her for a second. She's a pure hunter. Both my cats are indoor. Never go outside. Fatawny isn't afraid of anything, not even a water bottle. She just sits there if I try and spray her.

I'd be more than willing to see how your fennec does, but I take no responsibility if Fatawny harms him in any way.

(Also on a side note, when introducing two animals it takes more than a few days to a week to know anything at all. No two animals are gunna like each other based on one meeting) It would be neat to see a fennec in the house, but I want to make sure you know the risks, especially with my one cat.

As far as running out the door the rooms aren't near the door so that might help.

Upward around $350 to $450. You thinking about moving in Red? XD

Jimfoxyboy

I'm goingout to Seattle this weekend. Would Monday afternoon be ok for a visit to the new place along with bringing the fennec by? I was told I need to have an answer if I'll be moving there or to the other place by Tuesday.

OryxFox

I'm rather interested. I'll check it out, and If it works out I'll give it some thought.  Mmn.

Honestly, I think this is going to be much too rushed if you try and move in so soon.. we're nowhere near done unpacking, the place is just full of pieces-of-furniture, the birds have been going kind of nuts getting accustomed to the new place, one cat has her appointment to get fixed on the 9th, but of course until then she's in heat.  We're only finally getting our cable and internet hooked up this afternoon, hopefully, and we haven't even decided where most of the furniture is going to go yet, let alone put it back together.  It looks like we're going to have to take our bedroom door right off its hinges to see if we can squeeze the queen-size box spring up there, we need a new showerhead (or two), shower curtains, have a huge backlog of laundry to do, etc. etc. etc.

We really need a few weeks to sort this all out and get settled in first; you can barely open the front door without hitting random furniture all over the floor right now. x.x;  We may have it all ready by the 15th or even Nov. 1st, but I can't see us being anywhere close to ready to have people over, even just to visit, until then. :/

All that said, I took a ton of random pictures with cameras from work, so I'll be trying to upload them shortly.

Star-chan did a lot of cleaning ^^ Yay for kitties! Wolves should always keep one or two around >> teehee!

Quick question: Is there any chance I would be able to sit my other car at the house there. It's not exactly driveable right now. I'll have storage insurance on it. I'm just not sure where else I can put it till your place is ready for me to move in later in the month. I can't leave it at the house here because if I'm gone, it and the other one both have to be gone too. I could try to put it into a storage lot at U-storage or something but they'd be charging 60/month for it, and money is a little tight right now. I'll need to know by tomorrow if possible. Or if there's a way I can get a hold of you about it? Believe Kithop messaged Star my cell number, just call me if you can get the chance later tomorrow. Thanks.
