Hey fuzzbutts, featherdusters, and scaletards.  I'm certain a few of you have taken the Myers Briggs personality test in the past.

I don't think of it as the start and end for understanding an individual's capabilities (intelligence, creativity, kindness, and specific interests).

I do think it's interesting and usually pretty accurate about summarizing a person's tools and methods for interacting with and understanding the world.

With the furry fandom being incredibly diverse, but also, incredibly open minded Jai and I are curious how we stack up against the general population in terms of type distribution.

Please copy/paste the following:

If you took the official test (it costs about 60 bucks) indicate so, if not, provide a link to the test you took.

Here is mine:
___
My Type: INTP
Official Test: Yes
Your Thoughts:
I think it suits me pretty accurately, almost to a T.

Basically, I'm a software engineer and artist.  I love architecting worlds and designing games.  I couldn't imagine fitting into another term.

I feel like some of the weaknesses with understanding other people's emotions (as described by many INTP descriptions) do not exist for me.  I am good at describing and understanding how another person feels much of the time.  I would say that I do not *care* much about how other people feel when compared to figuring out the truth of what actually is, however.  So in that way I might come off as cold when someone may just want to be comforted but I'm giving step by step instructions to fix an issue instead.

I also do not feel socially awkward, though I don't care much for social norms.  I am certainly introverted and I need my alone time (actually just quiet time with my mate working on projects together), but I value social interaction because without it life seems a lot emptier.

al-aurens

___
My Type: ENTP
Official Test: No
Your Thoughts: I have no idea what it means!
The personality page for ENTP says:
"ENTPs are less interested in developing plans of actions or making decisions than they are in generating possibilities and ideas."
So my slacking off is okay now, because the test says so.

I wonder how similar or different I am to Dervacor, with only one letter changing.
___
10:52 PM - al-aurens: what is this furry underground
10:52 PM - ᴰᵣ. Cuddlebug: People in fursuits walking around, committing crimes, tagging streetcorners, rotating a big ass chain they carry around
10:53 PM - Apprentice Memester: you gotta ride skateboards and tag furporn on the sides of bridges while avoiding the pigs
10:54 PM - Apprentice Memester: you get combo points for yiffing in midair

I don't take much stock in personality tests myself. Mine is ESFJ
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

My Type: ESFJ
Official Test: No
Your Thoughts: dunno if I fully agree with it.
The personality page for ESFJ says:

As an ESFJ, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system. Your secondary mode is internal, where you take things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion.

ESFJs are people persons - they love people. They are warmly interested in others. They use their Sensing and Judging characteristics to gather specific, detailed information about others, and turn this information into supportive judgments. They want to like people, and have a special skill at bringing out the best in others. They are extremely good at reading others, and understanding their point of view. The ESFJ's strong desire to be liked and for everything to be pleasant makes them highly supportive of others. People like to be around ESFJs, because the ESFJ has a special gift of invariably making people feel good about themselves.

My Type: INTP
Official Test: Yes
Your Thoughts:

I think mine is pretty accurate. As Dervacor said, I don't think the tests really allow you to understand an individual's capabilities, just how they think while they're interpreting and interacting with the world around them. As for the INTP stereotype, I don't agree with or fit into it whatsoever. I'm not socially awkward and I'm pretty good at reading other people's emotions. Most of the time when I read other INTPs on forums, they seem to try and fit snuggly into the stereotype.

Strangely, I'm the same personality type as my partner. Even stranger... there's not a lot of women INTPs. Most of the females I know are actually INFPs (or just other Feeling types). I know one other female that's Thinking over Feeling. It's obviously not that I don't feel, because I can be quite emotional. It's just that I won't side with emotion in a topic if the truth says otherwise. Pretty much exactly what Dervacor said. I think that's the issue I find most when it comes to connecting with other women and/or Feeling types. It can make us appear cold to people when it comes to certain topics.

I work as a game artist in my house, which works really well for me. I tend to work better alone and with full control over my section of the work. I don't mind working in groups, but I'd rather be in the lead or have enough space to do things my way. I don't like having a super strict schedule, just like to do things as they come.

I think the biggest difference I see when it comes to individuals is whether they are inward thinking and reflective or whether they are focused externally and react to situations based on how they feel. (That last bit got taken out of Carthwright's ESFJ profile... but really did say exactly what I was thinking).

Anyways, I find the tests and individual personalities absolutely fascinating. Just super interesting seeing what people have to say about theirs. Good food for thought.

My Type: INTP
Official Test: Yes
Your Thoughts:

Yes, this is 100% accurate... If you read up on it, then you'll see that :P

I think its amusing three others have the same results XD
...Nope.

JaiJackal

Lol wow, three INTPs. If we end up ever meeting Cekuba, I think we'd get along just fine. XD Too much awesome in one thread. (∪ ◡ ∪)

My Type: ISTP
Official Test: No
Your thoughts: I am undoubtedly an ISTP. Everything fits me very well, and even though I have a few different values from ISTP, I have changed my values so much in the past (which is what an ISTP is subject to do) that I don't believe that indicates too much.

"They thrive on action and excitement, and may stir things up to create it"
So much yes.

ISTPs usually have a selection of friends who share their love of particular hobbies and pasttimes. They might have a friend who they ski with, and another who they shoot pool with, etc.
Yup

I took the http://www.personalitypage.com/html/index.shtml test back before it went payment required. It was a really good fit back then, and is only slightly less so now. A little more J recently, because of my new experiences.

My Thoughts:

Pretty well sums up the best canines I have met, known or loved over the years.
My deviation from the ISTJ border collie typology, would be my coyote ISTP troublemaking (which differs from border collie troublemaking,
as it is not random and derived of boredom, as it tends to be more of a preventative measure).

Official Test:  no
I have taken variations on this a couple times in the last couple years, and just as a check, I completed these (2) recently:

Some things are correct but not to a tee.

INFP personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, INFPs have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the INFP personality type - but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.

INFP personalityBeing a part of the Diplomat (NF) personality group, INFPs are guided by their principles, rather than by logic (Analysts), excitement (Explorers), or practicality (Sentinels). When deciding how to move forward, they will look to honor, beauty, morality and virtue - INFPs are led by the purity of their intent, not rewards and punishments. People who share the INFP personality type are proud of this quality, and rightly so, but not everyone understands the drive behind these feelings, and it can lead to isolation.

Wereman

My Type: N/A
Official Test: Yes

My Thoughts: The test took place over a decade ago and unfortunately this is the kind of record you keep locked in a file cabinet in your parent's basement (that's what must have happened). But as far as remembering and the majority of the test result goes it was mostly accurate. There were a few minor facts that were off from the truth though.

I'm an INFJ apparently, and they seem to be the rarest of types.
I am but a blade in the crowd.

I have seen what comes of those who raise themselves above others.

Dervacor

Yeah, INFJ would be hella rare, intuitive, judging, and feeling are not usually things that people associate with eachother :)

Pretty cool, I love the responses everyone!

Everything that was said about this type sounded exactly like me. "The Protectors" are what they call an INFJ, pretty cool. Seeing as I want to join the Armed Forces one day.

If this is a serious consideration young ronin, have a good, long look at the Royal Military College of Canada (Kingston).

The 'The Regular Officer Training Plan' is a good place to start looking, as you will come out of the system an officer, with a paid education to boot.
Everyone I know from friends, to my father who was in 20+ years, tells me that you get sh*t on for years until you get your stripes as regular enlisted.
