At WikiFur, BlueOtter asked about BC FurBQ:
"Is this event defunct?
It appears this event is defunct. It's site has been down for years, and the last furry.ca post about it is from 2008."

Question: What is the status of BC FurBQ?

surfur is the replacement camping event, and lots of fun.
you should join the "Ethereal friends of professor whovianart" on facebook, if anything, to find out where i currently am, or will be.

I wouldn't call it defunct. The individual that runs them has had small gaps at times with the events so it remains to be seen what the future of them may be, as for Whovianarts answer, the VI FurBQ was a collaboration between a local fur here and the one over in the interior of BC to alternate locations every year, one year here, next year over in the interior and so on.

The event itself really has little to do with Furry.ca which went down a few years ago, it just originated on there cause at the time there was no BC furies forum, the only Canadian one  around was furry.ca.

I would say its at the discretion of the people who hosted it if its actually dead or just having a hiatus. the last official FurBQ was in 2012. Surfur was the islands way of trying to have a consistent yearly big furry campout after the fact, which was in part inspired/ derived from the older FurBQ events.

With little confirmation, the event that alternated with FurBQ on the Island turned into Camp Rawr, held in Penticton in the Interior.
