PS3 to Samsung monitor issues.

I got rid of my TV when I bought a new samsumg monitor thinking I would use VGA from my computer and HDMI for the PS3.
When the HDMI is plugged in, the monitor seems to register that there is a signal, but I only get a black screen.
I've gone through all the steps to reset the PS3's video settings in every way imaginable. I've found a TV which I could hook it up to via composite, change the video settings manually, then try o hook it up to the monitor and it has failed every time.

I see some HDMI-VGA or Composite-VGA cables that don't seem to be converters. I'm not sure if they'd work(Anyone have experience with those?). I suspect that a HDMI/Composite-VGA video converter would sort things out nicely, so that's probably my next step, but I wouldn't mind a second opinion.

I'm using a PS3 slim and a Samsung BN68-01570A-00 monitor.

have you called sony to ask for their help?  whenever my ps3 didn't work they were willing to help me sort it out.   there is a way to do it but i can't tell you.  i call sony.  give them a call and i am pretty sure you will get it worked out in a matter of minutes.  since you will be on the phone, you will not have ac onflict of trying to use the monitor as well as "live chat" with a service rep.

good luck

I figured tech support was completely useless by this day and age, I never thought of that. I'll give it a shot!
