I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can beat scissors, but there's no way paper can beat rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around rock, leaving it immobile? Why can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody; a rock would tear it up in two seconds. When I play Rock-Paper-Scissors, I always choose rock. Then, when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist, and say, "Oh sorry, I thought paper would protect you."

For those that are not aware, the laws regarding marijuana in BC are up for referendum next year.

I urge everyone to take a look at the sensible BC campaign.

kinda sad that several US states have full legalization before B.C. even has decriminalization

I prefer to think Happy for them, rather than sad for us. It really is just a matter of time before we see a global shift away from prohibition.

even columbia is considering ending the prohibition of cocaine because the prohibition just causes more harm than good and is utterly ineffective

unfortunately the marijuana laws are not made by the bc gov't.  if they were it would be legal as they realize the value to sell it in stores.  the federal gov't - the conservative's - control the laws and they are changing it for the worse denying medical grow permits and more.

listen to the radio interview on the page, it's like in the states that legalized it recently, it's legal in the state, but still federally illegal, just once it's legal in that state the federal police agencies have a harder time even considering following through, and each province can dedicate more or less if they will follow the laws like the long gun registry

if you have been to court regarding a drug offense you have a federal crown attorney and not a provincial one.  those that live in Vancouver, WestVanc, Delta, Port Moody, New West, and any other non rcmp policed area would benefit from your thinking, BUT, since the rcmp is a federally controlled organisation then they will continue to uphold the federal laws.  they have even stated so in the past.  so until BC gets rid of the rcmp in BC then there will be no real freedom regarding decriminalizing the laws.  i will sign but i do not think it will go anywhere.

just my thoughts on the matter

not totally true, they may be federal, but they only have jurisdiction within the province they are assigned to, and if the province refuses to enforce the prohibition they can choose not to prosecute
