Ok ok before we start sidetracking here, this is not a ploy to try to take over the world.  But I see alot of us with common concerns within society and about our area, not to mention a strong desire to represent the fandom well.  Has anyone actually contemplated making a Furrie Party and thought about maybe running?  Could it be done?  Is it viable?  I am curious to hear your thoughts on the matter.

a Furry party? I really dont think thats wise. "furries" are just normal people. My personal opinion is to join an already existing party that meets the needs you have and is willing to address your concerns. Creating a furry party would only get us mocked.

If there are people with similar concerns, then feel free to try to get your own party going, but do not openly express its a furry party... That would take any seriousness we might poses away from us and as i said. get us mocked. Furries do not need to be in the limelight because only a few are capable of representing us well towards non furs and even then, people will look at us how they want to look at us. It would probably harm the fandom more then help it if it were to be named a furry party >. >

Spirit

That is a very, good point of view ^-^  I didn't mean to imply that I was personally thinking of starting it, just a random topic that came to mind as I was waiting for the coffee to brew and wanted to see what others had to say.

I don't think that would go anywhere. I'm not convinced that furries as furries (e.g., rather than as a bunch of people who just happen to be into furry) have consistent-enough viewpoints or necessarily much to contribute politically. I also think good PR is a lousy and rather cynical reason to get into politics, but then I think good PR is a lousy and rather cynical reason to do a lot of things (this is why I hate things like cause marketing).

I have no particular concerns around the reactions of others - I've certainly made my views on that clear enough over the years - I just don't think there's anything compelling about it as a proposition.

My opinion at least is that Furry, or Furries aren't a political mindset.  You still have to be left, or right.  The fact you identify with animals or animal peoples is a pass time.  It would be like having a Golfer Party(I think a lot of some goverment officials are into that).

I don't think "Furry" would influence political opinions, aside from some backward logic of like Left leaning Liberal ideas, but still, there's a lot of different political opinions with the furry fandom.

This branches out way wider into what Naox, and others have started threads on (and I've commented in full) regarding Identifying what Furries are, and aren't.  We're literally not that much different than other people, positive, and negative stereotypes associated.

I really do enjoy reading all of your thoughts, and its this particular reason I decided to start the thread.  And I agree, while we all may share some common points of view on specific things, we are all still very opinionated and not every fur shares the same thoughts.  It's fun to toss threads like that out here and get the mental juices flowing.  I think the biggest issue I could see regarding anything of a political nature, is safely finding a "political standpoint" that every fur would share and seeing as thats more than likely not a viable possibility it would in essence make a "Furry Party" nothing more than a media stunt as was mentioned earlier about it not being taken seriously.  Thanks for all your opinions and viewpoints thus far, I encourage others to jump on the POV wagon with this topic.

well my 6 step plan is counselor of hometown, mayor of hometown, premier of B.C, PM of canada, Dictator of canada(optional), ruler of the world.
Patriotism is not dying for one's country, it is living for one's contry. And for humanity. Perhaps that is not as romantic, but it's better.   Agnes Macphail

Seconded... although it would be nice to be more openly accepted in society, yadayadayada, I think this would be a bad idea because it's more likely to cause us to be looked at with more scrutiny.

Spirit

That is a very good point Xeneros

ya thats a pritty far out idea and i cant realy see it going any were at least not in are life time, its not big enough for something like that and kinda underground, not alot of underground stuff has that kinda thing. but nice for looking out for the community, in a political way.
No wait i totaly do!

Interesting idea and interesting answers, I enjoyed reading the responses as well and it all says that furries and politics are different areas. Too many furries have different viewpoint and before a furry party would start we'd see the Harley Davidson party, Basketball party but foremost in Canada the NHP (National Hockey Party).

Vanguard, I'll help you with your plan to first become counselor of hometown. We should meet for coffee and chisel out a blue print.

furries for gov't would never work.  once the party was formed and the possibility of someone getting elected there would be no work done because all the furries would want to cuddle and snuggle and give lots and lots of hugs.
would be a great gov't to be in but nothing would get done. the prov would go into Kaos. then we would have to Get Smart to take back Control.  after that, the men from U.N.C.L.E. would be watching over us just like a Big Brother would back in 1984.

LOL  Can I get a henceman card too?  @Tokar too true my friend, in defence however, I would rather nothing accomplished than the accomplishment of the current governments breaking everything ^=^

Wereman

Dude! Imagine what we cuold get done if one of us gets elected, and then gets a seat in the UN. We introduce a cuddle round where we all lie on largee pillows and cuddle for an hour. That would bring so much  harmony  in these tedious political sessions!

EDIT: When did I get a henchmen card...?
