these are some really annoying habits people have when texting sometimes and all it takes is doing one of these things to ruin someones day, especially people with any degree of social anxiety.

Textually Active

It seems like the only problem that video talks about is people taking a long time to reply and that is usually for two reasons ; one, the person is busy with something and aren't watching their phone like a hawk. The other reason is that the person just doesn't want to talk for one reason or another.
I've always been told to never look a life behind a window to go outside and join the world, but what about the world behind that window makes the outside so much better?

Hi, I'm Fleur, I'm good at blushing and laughing and not much else.

"We're not pawns of a scripted fate."

"Each year rings us inwardly with memory and might. Wield your heart, and the world will tremble."

I figure the whole thing about texting is that I don't always expect people to respond instantly. If it was critical for me to have an immediate response, I'd probably call them.

Presently I am being stalked by a Hyrulian Fairy who got a hold of my phone number. Everyday I get these: "Hey!" "Hi!" "Hey how are you?" "What are you doing?" "Hello?" "Hi!" "Hey where are you?" "Hey!" "Hey whatsup?" "Hey!" "Hey!" "Listen!" "Hey!"

The point is to be upfront with the person and tell them that. not leave them hanging.
telling the person your busy isnt hard lol. And if you simply dont want to talk, then say that. Your not in the mood for chatting right now. -shrugs-

Egawd, I had a similar fairy doing the same thing (if not even a few but they got bored by it). My approach was overly stern explaining that they should use texting for important information only.

Some individuals love to chat back and forth using texting or other means of communications and just ask how the other is doing on a daily (if not hourly) basis. Others use it to get in touch when meeting or in need of important information such as a specific store or where to pick someone up. Depending on how it comes across, what's crucial is to inform each other of communication habit. If someone dislikes one's reservations of texting or texting hourly you need to settle with that or come to a middle ground. What's crucial is to properly communicate each other's habits.

Stating the "I'm busy" is a little overused. And then there is the story that your expect to respond to a text message right away, though at times there is little hurry to respond right away. Teach the other individual patience. It is no crime to let a text message unanswered for 24 hours (depending of the content of it).

This really made me laugh. It's sooooo true. I hate to say it but I'm guilty of taking a long time to reply to text messages. Usually I'm working and have my phone off though... What I find more annoying is when this happens on skype or some other I'M client. Someone messages you "Hi, sup?" You reply... and never get anything back :|

I'm cool with chatting via text, I just think texting is a medium where instant responses shouldn't be expected since you never know what the other person might be doing at the time.

well, maybe thats true mink but look at it this way: texting is almost always via a persons cell phone, which most people keep with them at all times, meaning most of the time unless they are in a theatre or a job interview or something like that, they should be able to answer! its not like they need to stop what their doing to talk to you, usually you can text someone a response in like 10 seconds or less, so when you take several hours to text someone back it can been seen as kind of insulting, like they just don't want to text you.

90% of the time my phone is on my computer desk or in my bedroom. xD I constantly forget it even exists, so sometimes I won't get texts till the next day. But I usually just tell my friends to get a hold of me via Facebook 'cause I'll respond faster that way. To each their own I suppose.  :birdy:

I don't agree, really - constantly stopping what you're doing to pull out your phone and text can actually be fairly intrusive, or I find it so. Even if it doesn't take a lot of physical effort, it results in a lot of mental context switching, which is the enemy of actually getting anything done.

I think the main lesson here is not to assume anything, anyway.
