texting is like sending a mini letter.  it takes time for the receiving party to respond.  maybe they are driving when the text comes in and they forget to respond due to what they are doing.  if you are sending a text and expect an instant answer to your question then duh, you are using a cell PHONE to make the text so why not use the PHONE to CALL the person?  instant response requires instant communication. and btw, i have received a text that was sent at least 3 hours before i received it. so there goes your so called "instant" messaging theory.

Haha, this has definitely happened to me before.

It's kind of sad when people take texting too seriously.

This is also a very good point. I've had the network fail to relay messages in a timely manner, too.

I am the worst guy when it comes to my phone.  Mostly because I just hate dealing with it. It's off half the time, or it's difficult to text someone back for me on it.  Doesn't excuse me a lot from keeping incommunication with people, but I'm willing to bet E-mail is an easier way to get ahold of me, and I can only check that on my Desktop.

Either way... hoping things change come October when I get a smartphone.  Screw you Blackberry.

Awesome Fazar, are you planning to get an iPhone? Blackberry are classified as smartphones, arent they?

I do have to agree with Mink that with texting you cannot always expect an answer right away. It must have happened several times that I received the text message 24 hours after it got sent. Well, the other person may have have to be patient, unless it is an important logistical matter (which I tend to initiate). Of course you can always call and leave a message, though gotta admit 50% I do not pick up and have the person leave a message.

Few years back I worked for a company and managed a group of interns to work on a few projects. When the interns and I had a meeting with the company's owner one of them always dashed out of the room whenever his phone was ringing. This makes you feel that the meeting has little importance to him and is rude. You can answer your phone after the meeting and once I almost would have yanked the phone out of his hands

Well at least he didn't talk on the phone in the middle of the meeting! I mean most people aren't that rude/oblivious but it happens.
