I think the sequel is everything the original should have been. Like in the first one. The robots were kind of in the background till the final act it seemed. But this one they made way more appearances. Which was satisfying. There was alot more humor to it this time around. And the one tazer scene is probably the funniest moments in the movie that had me jumping in my chair from the sudden shock of lulz.

There didn't seem to be as many close up shots. So it was nice to actually see most of the transformations completely instead of bits and pieces 90% of the time. Sure I despise CG in present movies. Like I remember when CG was a added bonus to help add a couple effects to help make a movie a bit more awesome. And now I kinda hate it since its taken over movie making to much and alot of movies rely on it *coughstarwars1-3cough* So going into this had me *sighing* but at least the action sequences this time around were more badass IMO. And I guess there is some movies you can't make without CG especially this one.

Storyline..... I gotta say it pays tribute to the older form of storytelling. Where its a simple story of "oh noes the decepticons have another bad plan we better save the day!". So don't expect it to be to deep. But expect to see good ol Robot on robot action most of the time :3

And let's not forget that there's nothing more 80's than horrible black stereotypes. Has Michael Bay ever even met a real black person?

There was a lot about the first one that I really liked, this one was missing some of the same feel, but then there were a lot of things in the first one that I didn't like that this one didn't have. So for different reasons, I'd have to say the second one was just as good as the first. It just didn't seem nearly as grand.

I never watched the second one because I hated the first.  Sorry.

I had so many problems with this movie.  What they did to RC, the racial stereotype robots, and the toilet/genital humor.  I mean, come on.  Robots don't have those bits so quit making jokes about them.  Like Spoony said, that movie was mostly filler and once again had the Robots as side characters rather than mains.
