This humble Sci-fi series has grass roots right here in Vancouver. The plot is based in Vancouver, the filming was done in Vancouver, all post-production and VFX done here in Vancouver.

The core basics of the plot: in 2050-2077, corporations bailed out the government, which dissolved and then allowed corporations to limit democracy. Liber8, a anti-corporate movement, bombs the corporate headquarters for the North American Union in Vancouver. The people responsible are caught 6 months later, then put up for public execution. During said execution, they pieced together a mystical device for which they (plus 1 future cop) travel back in time to present day today, 2012. The rest of the series is based on preventing Liber8 from starting the war against corporations 60 years earlier than planned.

I've seen the first episode (it's airing on Showcase at the moment, but it's also online) and it is solidly built. Good acting, excellent VFX, and great action sequences.

Not to mention, a previous year's graduate of my program at BCIT and personal friend worked on dailies for the show.

It may be no Battlestar Galactica, but it is definitely worth the shot.

If it winds its way on to Shaw video on demand, I'd love to jump right in and watch it midnights. It'll be fun once again to count the landmarks and streets I recognise in the backround  :-3

I'm sure it's eventually gonna, cause Shaw Media was a production partner in the show. I'm holding out that it might air on Global in place of the History Television stuff they air on Saturday nights.

Way to degrade our image further.

Timecode is 10:53 into the Web version. The delivery of the line is what really pulled a punch on us.
