Wrote this a while ago and shared it with some of the other administrators; posting it publicly now.

BC Furries intent is to improve the connectedness of the BC furry community.

Since it can't do that if it's not there, RainRat has purchased the bcfurries.com and bcfurries.ca domains. Many other furry communities are hosted with Yahoo who can delete a community at any time without recourse. BC Furries is currently furry-hosted (critter.net). RainRat is also taking regular backups of the database and will do whatever it takes (purchase more disk space, switch hosts), to ensure the database is fully available. If RainRat is unable to fulfill that, he will transfer BC Furries to a maintainer who subscribes to the same principles.

Secondly, the host will remain neutral in disputes and cliques among members of the BC community. While the host doesn't expect all BC furries to like each other, they won't use BC Furries as a tool in their enmity.

Outside BC Furries, the host is an ambassador, who can't improve the connectedness of the BC Furries, if others outside believe BC Furries is a hostile, cliquey group.

Aside from the rules of any upstream provider (currently critter.net aup http://critter.net/aup.php ), the host will generally allow the community to increase their connectedness how they see fit, as long as it does not involve legal troubles for the host.

If there is a violation of the few rules, the host should deal with it without any indication of being a hostile, cliquey group, preferring soft correction over hard bans. A long term ban should be considered only all else fails. There are some things which could result in an immediate long-term ban, but they're not things that furries typically do.

Aside from the forum, the host will also consider other services, either existing or yet to exist, that will improve the connectedness of the BC furry community.

Looks great - I'm a big fan of making things less hostile/cliquey (I hope that was what came across in my recent cheesecake meet post). I'm always up for fighting against the idea that furry fandom is an exclusive club and it's fundamentally Us vs. The Mundanes.

It'd be interested In having scaletopia and bcfuries to work toghether to increase traffic for both partys.

That's a long chain to link the two together, by logic... considering, yes we have scalies here, because our fandom has the name Furry rather than Anthropomorphasis, when really it's about the latter.  I guess it's really way too late to fix that confusion, but it is, however minor, a conflict of logic.  (Who cares, right? :P)

Add to the fact that this is a location based forum, and Scaletopia, judging from Drake's location, not ever having visited there, is not location based.

We are aware of Scaletopia here, why not just open up a thread over there letting people know that this place exists, in case members are interested in BC?

The only other method would be to put some sort of an ad banner in somewhere, which some people would likely be against.  Just my thoughts...

Perhaps someone should start a furry/anthro network site that links all the furry/anthro forums together, then the forums can link back to the network in the fashion you described...  then there's no problem adding more sites, without having to hard modify forums every time another forum gets added. :P

I'm not against linking to scaletopia, but I don't see a strong reason to, either. Albertafurries.ca and ontariofurries.ca also consider us to be sister sites and I think giving some recognition to be a higher priority.

So by the sounds of it, the "webring" may be the best route.

Slightly off topic from our off topic topic...  is there a forum for Saskatchewan that you know of?  I know furs there, some of which are family, who need connectiveness too...

And also, those of us in GreaterVan area visit the Belfurs, and vice versa... Would they have one that could be considered a sister site too?  Then even Scaletopia would fit into the groups of sites better, as the ring would be international.

I would do my own research if I weren't currently on my smartphone.

I don't know of one for Saskatchewan; they tend to post on albertafurries.ca or on furry.ca

As far as I know, Washington is focused around Yahoo Groups and meetup.com

I don't think a link to scaletopia is necessary at all. Scalies forum has very little in common to a local furry community forum. Linking to other local furry forums makes sense. Linking to a scalies forum is a dumb idea, to put it bluntly.

There really is no diffrence. SCalies/Furies fall under the same, Broad category - Furrys.

I dont see why not. Im not in Canada and Im here. Theres no reason not too either.
