So, who's at least intrigued given the microsoft e3 demo?

Those that missed: http://gametrailers.com/e3/livefeed/microsoft

The really juicy part starts at 1:23:00 - stuff that was demo'd. But I'm convinced that the real star of the show was Dance Central - 1:45:00 ish.

Also, another possibly cool kinect title: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-child-of/101458

I watched the whole E3 Xbox portion, and that was SWEET im pretty excited for this, to the point that i ***MIGHT*** actually get a 360 O.=.o

Interesting but there is no way I am selling or trading in my 360 just to get a new one with a bigger hard drive and kinect.  And you know the kinect was not plugged in during the  demo video, right?  It was a pre recorded video with a guy making movements infront of it which is why it is out of sync.

I want to see what happens after Kinects release hopefully it'll look good, so far so good right? Overall it looks neat in my opinion.

The old xbox 360s still will work with connect.  You just have to plug the Kinect in through a separate power outlet.

I am sooo looking forward to Child of Eden, I rarely get excited for upcoming games anymore but I will make an exception :p

Oh and by the way if you wear black clothes, Kinect can't see you.  All my shirts are black so I would not be playing this.  I would have to buy new shirts just to play with it.

Kardrack: a) demos were real on stage. I'd wager good money on that. Case in point - yourshape fitness demo, kinect adventures. The lag between displaying the 360 on the screen and the movements done is probably a combination of splitting the signal to display on the screen in front of them and the projector + the inherent lag of an LCD screen (try playing smash brothers on a LCD TV) + the processing time.

b) buy a white shirt. 5-10 bucks.

-------

The killer is that the initial cost of it is 150... and it doesn't include any games. I'd buy it at 100. But if the initial cost of kinect is 246.4 - kinect + 1 game which seem to be starting around 70 now... + tax... fuck that. I've no interest in being an early adopter at that price. I doubt that people would want to at that price.

The point is you shouldn't HAVE to buy a white shirt.  And some of the demos had the screen moving before the actor.

Only works if it doesn't look like you are wearing a black sweater when nekkid, unlike me.  :P

The technology works. The Child of Eden demo used it for real.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

Instead of investing in better game development or more powerful consoles, we're branching out into new and different control methods. The Wii sold like hotcakes, but four years later, motion controls have proven to be a fickle creature. Most serious games don't work well with the concept. I fail to see how this will improve at all with Kinect, or the variant Sony is apparently working on for PS3. It's the same problem. I don't want to dance around my living room trying to drive a car, shoot someone, or play casual games with others.

Don't get me wrong, casual gaming is awesome too, and new ways of controlling these new forms of entertainment are welcome. In the end, I just don't see how it won't be another lost leader. Everyone will buy one, everyone will play with it for awhile, and the end result will be millions more dollars for Sony and Microsoft with no improvement in actual game development or gameplay. Just the same titles, again, with motion control added.

It's the same reason everyone I know either has or has had a Wii along with one of the two other current generation consoles. Sooner or later it gets boring and you go back to regular gaming. They'd have to be able to distill gamer sweat into vodka before I'd consider it a game changer.
