I am so friggin sick of people as a species, and tired of dealing with the bullshit. I need to get away from everyone; friends, co workers, family, any and all other carbon based humanoids for about a month.

Soooo very tired and bitter.
I live in a world of fantasy.

It's sad to hear that the society we live around us is changing drastically and that things like this happen more often than it ever should in the first place, and of all places, a damn elementary school...

I'm sending all my prayers out to the families of lost ones and pray that they also rest in peace :-[

Attempting to work on a comic project with a commissioner. I am giving him the discounted rate ($5 less per page) since his comic is supposed to be around 20 pages. He initially asked if we could do it in 3 page chunks since he couldn't pay the entire $200 at once. I said it was ok.

Being used to working with this other comic commissioner, I made the first three pages ahead of time and waited until he paid the first installment. He put it off for a week because an artist he had "been watching forever" had an auction and he spent all his money on it, but he did eventually pay the $30 so I sent the pages. He green lighted the next three pages right away and said "I can't wait to see this weekends pages!" so (it was Tuesday) I made up the next three pages and sent the watermarked, tiny versions that Saturday morning to prove the work was done and a PP invoice.

He didn't even respond. The next weekend, he sent me a Note saying that he was sorry but the new WoW expansion was on sale or something and he wanted to buy it. The weekend after that he ignored me again so I sent a PP invoice reminder. He ignored it. I sent one last night. Still ignored.

It is now 3.5 weeks later and still nothing. I see him in the FA forums looking to hire people for various illustrations (and he has a thread looking for a plushie maker now) but hasn't paid me yet. This is frustrating.

I just sent him a Note on FA asking about my payment. After this, I am canceling the project. He can find someone else to work on his comic.

I think this is the second time I've seen you mention a commission gone wrong. D: I hope this doesn't happen too often, seems like a pain in the butt.

not sure if this is the right thread but here goes.  it is regarding the american's desire to have a gun in every pocket and the tragedies that have dominated the news lately especially the newtown ct school.

i think it is now time for the us to start talks about gun control. the right to bear arms will be no more since it is 150 yrs out of date.

Things rarely ever go wrong... but when they do, it is annoying.

I thought Americans wanted NO guns period? ???
(or maybe there's two groups, one that wants no guns at all, the other of which wants guns. Not counting criminals, of course)

Zenia, I do have a good idea as to what you should do. I'd highly recommend that you check this site out.

@tokar: It's the media moguls, the rich, wealthy and corrupt bourgeois that is fuelling this fear and kissing up to the NRA. Until we can defeat every single one of their protection-paid lawyers with one single swoop, this gun problem will continue.
If I had several years more in terms of academia, you'd bet that I'd do a Masters paper on the Media, and how it leads to corruption, and violence, and you name it, the lax gun control.

I'm actually getting fed up with the people who think that getting rid of guns will solve all these problems.

Guess what! Criminals don't follow laws! =>.<=

Tef: Yeah, I read AB all the time... I might have to post this up there. He has now promised to pay me (and apparently a crap load of other artists) by Jan 1st.

Anyway, new complaint... I bought a WiiU yesterday (which is awesome) but the gamepad won't charge. Now I guess I have to return it. >____>

In addition to my truck needing a new alternator belt and someone to fit it for me... the lightbulb in the hazard light on the left hand side needs replacing. Tried to lever the thing open so I could access where the bulb is... but it's behaving like it's been super-glued to the metal or bolted in or something  >:(

I agree with this a lot, there's more to it then getting rid of guns. I read this earlier today and it really does reflect how a feel about media and how things work nowadays

Morgan Freeman:

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single victim of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

I don't know what his name is or what he looks like.

... Well, I can guess at what his name is based on the link you posted (I haven't clicked it).

If you asked me who those other two names were, I wouldn't have been able to tell you that either.
