Snow is pretty... but when you have to take public transit, it is the worst. It is horrible how many places around here don't shovel their sidewalks. It forces me to walk directly on Bowen Rd instead of the sidewalk. So dangerous!

...Isn't that what winter boots are for?

I'm sorry if that seems a little harsh, I just hate, hate, HATE it when people blame the weather for inconveniencing them. Even indirectly. Yeah, those people should probably shovel the sidewalk in front of their business/house, it would be really nice of them. But I don't see how there being a little bit of snow on the sidewalk is forcing you to walk on the road. that's a personal choice.

I also think it's the worst when it snows in vancouver particularly because 1- no one in vancouver knows how to drive in the snow. Not even the handful of people that know how to dive at all know how to drive in the snow. Especially not the bus drivers. They suck at winter driving. x9000. and 2- because of the lack of snow, few people have winter tires. They all have all-season tires, which, in any real amount of snow, are pretty much useless.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, either way you're right.

Complaining about winter driving skill in a city that gets an average of one major snowfall every five years interspersed with the occasional minor snowfall is really just being picky. Complaining about winter driving skills should be done in cities where people actually NEED (and get to practice) winter driving skills more than once or twice a year, not in Vancouver.

Complaint: I seem to have pulled something in my back. Now both shoulders are sore :P

Actually, i wasnt complaining. I was stating an opinion. I  think it sucks when there is snow in Vancouver because people cant drive in it, and because they're constantly unprepared for it. Regardless of the frequency of snowfall in the city, it still snows, so it shouldnt be a surprise every damn time.

My legs are too fat for boots. Anyway, I can't afford them. But mostly it doesn't snow much in Nanaimo, but when it does, it is like, knee deep. I can tell you right now that it is very difficult for a 300+lbs person to maneuver in that. Though, I am trying to get a handle on that.

When the snow is knee deep (especially when the stuff at the very bottom has turned to ice) then there is nothing I can do except flounder in it for 4 times longer than it usually takes me to get to work, or, I can walk on the street which is completely bare of snow.

I am allowed to hate the weather as much as I want. :P

Realized I lost my BC ID card at the airport three days ago today. Enough said about how horrible I'm feeling right now. I might as well set my mental state on fire and curl up in an ash heap.

I gotta agree with ya there. Hell I have been in a lot worse XD I had to drive to and from work for a good few weeks on back roads that were pretty much a sheet of ice due to being run down and never plowed. In a little civic (I did have a brand new set of winters though, yes actually 4 tires). When I lived in Nanaimo and we got that uber snow fall in like 2008 and another bad one in 2010, I didn't just have to walk in it, I was out there shoveling it and clearing the driveway. haha I just looked at it as uber exercise cause I was shredded afterwards, not to mention frozen XD

Yeah, knee deep snow I can understand. Isn't there a bylaw or something that they have to shovel their sidewalks? you should just let yourself fall, and then sue them for not shoveling the sidewalk, :p I believe that would be under negligence.

Look, if you want to take offense to a post about the general public, that's your choice. There are always going to be exceptions, and people who don't fit in with the generalizations. If you know you're not one of the people I'm generalizing, then why start something?

I believe there is... but people don't heed it. At least the guy that owns the building I work in shovels the sidewalk in front of it.

F no.. that's like the lowest form of scum on this planet.. people who do stuff like that. I know that there is a bylaw that shop owners and anyone with a stretch of sidewalk in front of their place has to shovel it... but lets just face how impractical that is.. You shovel it, 15 mins later its got like 1cm of snow, some person falls and then sues you for "not shoveling your sidewalk and being negligent" or heck you can shovel it but there is still gonna be some amount of snow and someone can and will find a way to slip on it if they are that determined to get money.

The legalized barratry that's gotten so utterly entrenched in modern society. Good thing to complain about. Suing for genuine negligence is one matter; If you're poisoned by inspected, 'safe' food and seriously or permanently harmed, sue. If you're briefly inconvenienced or embarrassed, harden up and deal with it, muffin.

On an unrelated complaint note, I feel like someone's driven four icepicks into my temples, and is now lovingly tapping in a fifth one heartbeat at a time. And this is after the maximum safe dose of ibuprofen and aspirin combined. Can't take anything stronger, save perhaps gin. Did I ever tell you people that migraines royally suck more ass than an outhouse placed over an industrial intake? I'm going to go find something solid and beat my head on it until the pain crawls out, at this rate. That or just ooze into bed and stop moving for a few hours. I hate my skull today. Really. Truly. Mallet and chisel please? The little gremlin in my brain-case wants out.

Combination of slightly tweaked neck and blood pressure meds has had me vaguely unfocused for a while now. It's getting annoying. Massage next week, I guess. One day I want to feel right for a full day.

I was mostly kidding about the slipping and suing. Besides, if they genuinely never shovel their sidewalks, then they deserve it.

Selkit, try icecream for the migraine. Give yourself a bit of an icecream headache, and when it subsides it'll take a bit of your migraine with it. Or at least, it works for me.

My complaint; I can't find the fabric I need for my latest projects ANYwhere. >:/
