Contrary to popular belief, popular belief is not an opinion.
"Newton was not the first of the age of reason, he was the last of the magicians." - John Maynard Keynes
"My business is to teach my aspirations to conform themselves to fact, not to try and make facts harmonize with my aspirations." - Thomas Huxley

Bronze-age pifflegab salesmen. This is apparently okay by Translink to have them there, too. I'm... mildly annoyed by that. And half tempted to spend a day off handing out American Atheists literature within three feet of them, just to see where that particular envelope can be pushed.

Meh, people have a right to preach (a)theism so long as they are not creating a human roadblock for the public.

agreed  ... BUT ... they are not permitted to do so on Translink property such as a train platform, station entrance, bus, train, etc.  off site of the Translink property is open to do whatever one (legally) wants.

Haha I've seen those mormons! they were going door to door in an area that was mostly indian and chinese and tried to convert me as I walked by. Overalls, thick glasses, combed parted hair?

willow

No they are wearing black dress pants and a white shirt with a black name tag! that says "From the church of JESUS CHRIST AND THE LATTERDAY SAINTS!

I can feel that same rat of weakness gnawing at me again. I broke down hard earlier today, and at least this time I made it home before doing so. I'm not sure how much more I can cope with. Those same ugly realizations came pouring on back. I've lost a marriage through failed effort and distance. There's increasingly fewer of my already small family. The last time I had a consistent sleep and work cycle that didn't cross between dayside/nightside once a week was two years ago. There's a point where you just can't shoulder it anymore. I'm at that point, or past it, and starting to wonder, what now?

It's just debilitating in terms of my parents' reaction to me stating that I would like to attend the pride parade, and their reasons for rejecting me in terms of being part of a community of "improper" (that was exactly the term my parents used) people.

With them stating that and asking me the trap-laced question of "Are you one of them?", I have to shut myself into the closet and say that I'm straight but an ally when I personally believe myself to be bisexual.
