How many furries in the world?

I was curious how many furries there are, so here is an attempt to get a ballpark number.

bcfurries.com has 451 members, nearly all in British Columbia. The out-of-province members are probably offset by people who don't have accounts.

The population of BC is 4,419,974 according to Wikipedia. 451 / 4419974 = 0.000102036799, or 0.0102% of the population are furries.

The population of Canada is 34,095,000 according to Wikipedia: 34095000* 0.000102036799 = 3,478.94466, so 3479 furries in Canada.

The population of the United States is 309,212,000 according to Wikipedia. Assuming a similar ratio, since the culture is similar, 309 212 000 * 0.000102036799 = 31 551.0027, so 31551 furries in the United States. 3479+31551 = 35030.

Multiplying the ratio by the world population would probably be a mistake, since furry is a lot more popular in Western cultures. If you want to extend this estimate or show a different method, feel free.

Im sure the furry population goes well into the thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands.

My wild guess is 0.01% of the world.

Speaking of which, I just came across, again, a video about furry facts. According to the author, or whoever figured it out, there's about 100,000 world wide with the majority in southern California.

I figured the overall would be in the tens of thousands somewhere, maybe into the hundreds of thousands - the problem is that the boundary of "furry" is kind of fuzzy (ha). Does it mean people who are involved in the fandom, or people who just like anthropomorphic animals, or...

I also really doubt the majority are in southern California or even California in general, but that's probably the biggest single group.
