Okay, considering I'm probably the only Norwegian person in this forums, and well, chances are i might be the only non canadian person on here (but hey im in a serious relationship with a canadian who lives in BC so im excused)

But yeah, my country is small and sometimes i know people have interests about how its like over here, history, and various other things, dont hesitate to ask, and i shall try to deliver!

Norway's a petty wet place yes, we have alot of rain but occasionally we tend to get nice sunny weather, we're almost surrounded by the ocean so the air is humid and i tend to really like it here, then again im a pretty neutral and gloomy person ;P

What's the job market there like (for IT)? ;)

I actually used to work for a minor Canadian division here in Vancouver of a very big Norwegian company you've maybe heard about - Aker Solutions (though the bit I worked for used to be part of Kværner)? :p  I've been to their Houston office (head for North America), but not to Norway itself like some of my old co-workers.  Wasn't high up enough in the food chain for them to need to, though I'd have loved to have gone.

I can actually claim British/UK citizenship by descent through my parents; I'd just have to send off the paperwork to get a passport and such to make it official - though I understand Norway isn't part of the EU, do you think it would be easier to visit or get a work visa via my UK citizenship vs. my Canadian one if I ever had to? :)

I've always been a fan of the Scandinavian countries and their governments.  Of course no one is perfect, but I think they're doing a better job than ours most of the time... <.<;  Americans always say they want to move to Canada to escape their government - I kind of want to move to Scandinavia to escape mine. :P

@Star Wonder, I dont think its colder here than there, it really depends on where you are in the country, just like in Canada, i remember camping out by the highway with my GF when we were driving back to Vancouver, that was COLD.

@Kithop, Aker Solution dont have a big IT department in Norway, they kinda lease out all their IT work to other companies. The IT sector is pretty good for work in norway, I'm an educated computer technician myself, just need to finish my apprenticeship, You don't need a visit visa to Norway for up to 90 days, this applies to a lot of european counties who are under an agreement called the "Schengen Agreement". As far as getting a work visa I dont think norway discriminates on your chances depending on where you're applying from, i think it depends on your education and if you got a prearranged job already, Aker Solutions could possibly help you get a job in their Norwegian offices if you tried asking around a little, worth a shot anyways.

Oh as far as governments go, i know Canadians always say to the Americans, I cant hear you over my health care plan. Well I'm Norwegian, I cant hear you over my health care and my barrel of oil!

thought i answered this while i was on the phone with my mate... oh well here goes,

The battle you are refering to was the final battle before norway was gathered into one kingdom, the monument represents the battle, the larger sword is the victorious king and the two smaller one teh defeated ones. more info about this battle on wikipedia as its been a while since i had this in school i dont remember fully and rather not be blamed of plaguarism.

a-ha isnt that big in norway, allthough their album (Hunting High and Low) which featured TAke on me, spendt 38 weeks on top 10 in norway, 8 of which were 1st place.
