There is one 50' in my store that does 2d to 3d upconverting for around $1500 with a 3d blu ray player and two pairs of glasses. They are already becoming affordable. And check out the guardians owls of gahool movie, full 3d that has a few pop out scenes where it works andthe rest is all depth

All I can say - wait for the technology to mature. It's at least a year or two off. And shutter glases are a pain in the neck. They're bulky and uncomfortable. Personally, I'm waiting for the passive glasses that they use in theatres... or even no glasses.

Wyrd-Hotd

trouble is, the no glasses 3D tv technology is out there... but they wont mass market it because of its immense downfalls, and limitations.  As for passive glasses? i dont see that coming for a LONG time...

I think (as others have said) that a 3D TV is a poor investment right now. Even when the technology matures, I'd want to know that it was really going to catch on, and so far it's seemed like a gimmick that pops up as the big new thing every few years and then disappears as everyone remembers it wasn't really all that great.

...yeah, like minidisk players, anyone remember those?
I know not what weapons world war III will be fought with, but world war IV will be fought with sticks and stones

Ah true, but look at the PSP, how big were its disks? everything is a stepping stone, i say instead of mini disks, look at LASER DISKS LOL record sized dvd anyone? but then, it was a stepping stone.

I still have my mini disc player. It had the best audio back then with no compression, well along with CD players. Compared to when mp3 player were just coming out and you had to compress your music to very low bit rates.

As for 3D TV, I think I will pass until they come out with 3D projectors at a reasonable prices.

We had a really high-tech experimental digital classroom thing going on when I took Biology 12, and we had a laserdisc player. Those things were wild, yeah.

This was in about... 1995? 1996?
