Since fights seem to keep breaking out in otherwise legit topics, I present Chapter 2.

While on the topic of fights breaking out in legit topics, it may be an idea to remove the fighting and keep the legit topic going.  I remember in phpBB2 there was a way to split topics up without losing anyone's posts.  If SMF has that same ability, it might be an idea.

Even though it is entertaining to watch certain people duke it out over text, it is also somewhat annoying to see it causing legit topics to be truncated.

I mentioned somewhere that the forum should have a furry themed look to it.  I noticed today we were back to the SMF Core theme.  I was going to suggest that the site could have its own banner based on the furs that run the show.  In this case, it would be RainRat.

Many other fur staffed sites seem to do it this way; it wouldn't be that difficult to follow suit.  That, and I'm sure Rat could use some fresh art of his character, and what better reason but to get ourselves a nice looking forum banner. :3

I think that's a great idea Felix!

I second that motion.

Which one?  The banana split, or the chocolate logo?

Some Guy

this will not work for SMF Core theme since rainrat doesnt know how to script in the banner, i know ontario furs have one mainly because its all custom written.

A limit on signature length would be nice.

Vanilla Skunk

Agreed,.  Most boards seem to have something to that effect.

I think we have/had a rule for that, however it should dictate the size from the signiture seperator line down to the bottom of the post, not just the banner size.

It's easy to make a banner a certan size, but adding 20 lines of text afterwards defeats the purpose of a limit.

Some Guy

there is a size limit to signatures, MAX: 500px wide - 200px Tall

there is no limiter on signature length, just signature image size

Text on any forum takes much less time to load, Images use alot of bandwidth especially if they are PNG

thats why you are limited to 500x200 dimensions max

Vanilla Skunk

The point of limiting the size of the entire signiture is to make it so that you don't have to scroll over large amounts of reduntant material just to get to the next post.  It clutters up the forum, when all of that information is best saved for profiles anyways.

Acco

A signature should be no longer than one or two lines. Enough for 1 picture or a few lines of text.

Vanilla Skunk

<--- Also, that should be "Date Registered" when spelled correctly...

Though, I don't see why that info should even be there.  You can view that in people's profiles.  And if someone makes a really short post, it would shorten the page without it there.

How long has that reflection been there?  That takes up quite a bit of space.

Reflection is a default part of the basic SMF theme.

edit: Most themes don't have it. Just the default SMF one.

Vanilla Skunk

Ahh...  I don't remember seeing it before...

Rino, do you think it would be possible to make your point without disrespecting other members of the board please?

If I recall correctly, that was a rule that you yourself typed up, and still applies.
