TheBritishAndy

Hi there everyone, hope you are all having a good weekend.
My name is Andy, I'm originally from the UK (hence my username haha) but have been living in Vancouver for two and half years and I just recently got my Permanent Residency last month!

I moved to Vancouver back in August 2015, it's been a dream of mine to move to Canada since I was the age of 17 as I just fell in love with the country with going skiing with my dad in Banff & coming to Vancouver to visit family with my mum. I'm slowly getting back into the Furry community, I was in the UK Furry community for a good number of years but due to being busy with work, being in a relationship at the time & planning on getting a working visa and moving to Canada meant that I wasn't able to be as active in the community I was originally.

It's honestly been nice getting back into the fandom and I'm looking forward to being apart of the Vancouver/BC Community and getting to know you all. :)

Welcome to the BCFurries Forums Andy. Glad to hear you got your permanent residency. I know from personal experience how much of a pain it can be. I myself moved from The Netherlands to Vancouver back in July 2015, so it sounds like we've had a fairly similar settling down process, which is quite neat ^^

If you're looking for a good place to start to get back into the fandom, I'd suggest joining the BCFurries Telegram group chat (t.me/bcfurries) and/or joining the BC Furry Events Telegram Announcements Channel (t.me/bcfurryevents). The latter is particularly helpful if you want a good overview of in-person events that are happening. Hope this helps :)

Hey there Hazellius, thank you for the welcome!
That's so awesome that you moved to Vancouver at the same time as I did! Hopefully the process in getting your Permanent Residency was not too stressful for you, there was so many hidden obstacles I had to go through in order to even get enough points to apply for PR it was insane haha.

And thank you as well for the links to the Telegram chats that does help greatly, I recently made an account on Telegram so I will totally jump into that very soon. Hope you have had a very good day today. :D

I can definitely say that the process of getting my permanent residency was an absolute nightmare. I'm glad it's in the past now. When you say that your whole process of attempting to obtain PR was "insane", I can very much sympathize, as I totally get what you mean :P
