Hey!  So, my friend has been bugging me off and on for a while to try and get Arma 3 working; she's a fan of Day-Z (which, of course, is Arma 2), while I've loved watching SovietWomble's shenanigans (note: swearing).

To that end, I've managed to set up a working Arma 3 dedicated server... but it's not easy to administer or set up, by a long shot, particularly when mods start getting added in.

Would any of you be interested in said server, and have any suggestions for easy-to-setup mods?  We're currently messing around with Exile (which turns it into a kind of survival game with food and water), but it's.. kind of lacking on its own.

My friend doesn't have any of the DLC, including Apex, so we'd like to stick with what we can do with 'vanilla' Arma 3 + free mods.  We're also much more 'PvE' fans than PvP, so co-op vs. AI type missions/scenarios would work best, at least to start.

It's got its own built-in voice chat, but if needed I do also have a Mumble server working, too.

Thoughts? :)

King of the hill, Breaking Point, both dope mods.

Altis Life too!
There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those that don't.

Arooo!

Breaking Point looked awesome!

Until I realised the devs are complete jerks and refuse to release the server code, so you have to use their launcher and have to play on their public servers.

That... defeats the entire point of what I'm doing here, which is a PvE, passworded, private server.  Ah well.

I think I'm gonna end up just messing around with vanilla and Zeus missions or something.

So, my friend and I have settled for messing around with Epoch for now - we suck horribly at it, so I had to figure out how to dupe & edit the default Altis mission file for it to give us a bit of a handicap (spawn with a bit of money/energy rather than 0, turn off the annoying drones) while we learn.

I now have my HOTAS and my (dad's) wheel/pedal combo all set up and working in Arma.  Driving jeeps/tanks? -> Wheel/pedals.  Flying choppers/planes? -> HOTAS (with the wheel's pedals doubling as rudder, as a bonus!).  Pewpew on foot? -> Mouse + keyboard.  Good times:

(I really really want something like a Volair Sim chair setup, though.  Bolting everything in place seems way better than the HOTAS sliding around my desk. :p)

If anyone wants to mess around in Epoch with us, let me know.
