(Editor's notes: For the past ten years, I've been role playing online with a self created background and world. It's since gotten rather complex and deep. And it's something I've been wanting to write about for just as long but never gotten around to doing so. Somewhere in the middle a version of furres got involved. At the time I figured that they just showed up somehow and joined in on one of the projects involved with the background I had.

That was up till about a year ago when I found myself wanting to flesh things out a lot more with regards to the 'furres' themselves. Like with the world that I created, the story and background on the 'furres' that I created has also gotten rather complex. Today I decided to sit down and try to write up what I knew of them, but in something of a report that could fit into the world I created. Only I found I had something of a writer's block for a good half hour before I could get anything down. Now that I think about things, I'm wondering if I could have just gone another way with writing things down. I was never really any good with thinking things through description wise, at least not on this scale. This most of what I had thought of up. There is still a lot more, I just haven't gotten around to working on it yet.)

Admittedly this is a very rough draft and is still being worked on. I'd be curious of people's suggestions on better formatting:

Overview:

The Falarin home world had been discovered a little over seven years prior to the creation of this report. The first time use of the 'New Contact' rules had presented itself with a number of difficulties. As a result, the first 18 months after the discovery of the Falarin world was spent trying to revise the rules through the new experienced gained, as well as establishing communications at the same time.

First physical contact was made afterward. A site outside of the few major populated areas on the Falarin home world was selected for safety reasons on both parties. Two years later, the Falarin society joins what is now become known as the Joint Space and Sciences Exploratory Consortium (JSSEC). The organization was previously known as the Advanced Space and Sciences Exploratory Team (ASSET). The change in the name reflects the change in the organization, it's goals and priories. As well as marking the addition of a new a new member body. Since the creation of JSSET, Falarins have since joined in on a number of projects along side of their human counter parts. (Project 'Feral', the joint creation of a true spacecraft meant for deep, long term exploration. Project 'Wings', joint facilities aimed at flight and aerospace training and research)

This file provides the physical description and what historical data that has been gathered about the Falarins in the years since the first physical contact.

Physical Description:

The Falarins are made of up of a number of anthropomorphic species rather than just one. Research into DNA samples provided have shown that all Falarin's species have originated from the middle of North America of Earth, sometime just prior to any form of domestication or settlement of peoples on the lands. And that their evolution into that of an anthropomorphic stance was artificially induced rather than by natural means.

Adults of all species have heights in comparison to that of the average human, roughly 5 foot and 8 inches. Some deviations in heights are known but extreme cases are rarely known. And birth rates of one or two are most common. Birth rates of threes are considered relatively rare.

Falarins are categorized in two groups, a Primary and a Secondary. The primary group consists mostly of the carnivore and some omnivore species, roughly 65 to 75 percent of the whole population of Falarins. The secondary group consists of herbivores and omnivores which makes up the remaining percentage of the population.

The break down is as follows:

Primary:
--------

Canidae:
Coyote
Fox - Red, Grey, Swift
Wolf - Gray, Red

Felidae:
Bobcat
Cougar
Lynx

Mephtidae:
Skunk - Spotted, Stripped

Mustelidae:
Badger
Marten
Mink
Ermine
Ferret
Fisher
River otter
Weasel
Wolverine

Procyonidae:
Raccoon

Ursidae:
Bear - Black, Brown

Secondary:
----------

Castorimorpha:
Beaver

Cervidae
White-tailed Deer
Mule Deer
Elk

Equidae
Horse

Lagomorpha:
Rabbit

Muridae:
Mouse
Rat

Sciuridae:
Squirrel
Chipmunk

Provided Information

The Falarins themselves have brought forth information of their own to our attention. One major point is of stories of an ancient race that had brought them into being before suddenly disappearing. They had also taught the Falarins the basics of a society as well as language. It is reasonable to believe that this same race of ancient beings was responsible for taking viable samples from Earth's past and bring them to the Falarin's current planet. Then, for some as of yet known purpose, begin artificially evolving the many species into the Falarin's current forms.

Also prior to the ancient race's disappearance, the Falarins were left with the understanding that others from the world they came from, Earth, would eventually discover them. They just hadn't anticipated that the discovery would be so early in the Falarin's development. This would also explain the Falarin's eagerness to join in such a short time after our discovery. And wanting to learn as much about their ancient beginings back on earth.

Society

Despite the fact that the Falarins were likely artificially evolved with a large amount of technology, they were left with a limited amount of it when the ancient race, that created them, had left some time ago. At least enough to sustain their society in relative harmony with the planet for the many generations since they've been on their own. But also enough to avoid resorting to a heavily polluting industrial society. There is some speculation that the Falarins hadn't been initially 'evolved' on the planet itself, prior to being introduced to it. Or perhaps the ancient race had 'set up shop' temporarily planet side.

Falarin society is made up of a major council in each of the two large population centers. Minor population groups dot about the landscape with their own minor councils. A represenitive of each minor population group, is regularly sent to the closest major center.

The Falarins had made a few advances of their own prior to first contact but have yet to make any major wide use of such advances.
