This post is about my video RainFurrest 2009 - Compilation Music Video

The first step to making a video is making sure you have plenty of footage. I brought two cameras, 3 2GB memory cards, and a laptop to dump the footage onto. In total, I got 10 GB of footage. Then I obtained additional footage from Marfles.

The second step was to watch it all and make notes about the content of the videos and the times of any good footage. Here's a snippet:

100_1695 barrow boring
100_1696 barrow 0:38 good 1:48 good 4:16 qmick 2:50 kodi barrow
P1010107 barrow all good

*barrow refers to the wheelbarrow race portion of the fursuit games.

The next step was selecting the music. There were three music that I was considering: Alexander James Adams' "March of Con Death", which was specifically written for this con, Jonathan Coulton's "Re Your Brains", and Madius h rat's "Colon D".

The cameras I had made Quicktime MOV video, so first I tried importing them right into Windows Movie Maker. Of course MOV is a proprietary format, so Windows Movie Maker didn't accept that. I used VLC player to convert the video. At first, the bitrate setting of the conversion was set too low, so I increased it; I just picked some arbitrary number like 3000.

Then I started bringing my converted video in; trying to match the selected video to the song, not staying on any one video for too long. Matching up the precise bit of footage to the music is a lot of trial and error. The previously made index came in handy.

When it was done, I exported the video and sent it off to Youtube, and there you have it.

What I'd like to hear from you, is what video would you like me to make next?

I personally have enough footage to make a video about:
-RainFurrest 2009 (to different music)
-misc BC Furries or focus in particular on:
-BC Furries fursuit bowling
-BC Furries on BC Ferries
-Anthrocon 2009
-Alberta Furries (in particular the June 2009 fursuit event)
-All Fur Fun 2009
-Further Confusion 2009
-RainFurrest 2008
Also, what music do you think it should use?
