Somebody has figured out an awesome way to create supercapacitors:
Using a DVD burner! =^.^=
(the last method, apparently, used sticky tape...)
I remember spotting this technique last May!

I think these have better uses. A fantasy-sized 1000 Farad supercapacitor contains 1/2(1kF)(1V)^2 = 500J of energy, whereas a cheap rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium battery can store as much energy as (3600 Ampseconds)(1V) = 3600J!

FurMaximus and I made ... sushi! All from scratch, a great attempt. A Cougar roll is in the planning some day, seeing as places often have Tiger rolls.

Despite starting out as a horrendously-rainy day, Friday actually cleared right up into a wonderfully sunny day, even if it was still a little cold.

Due to my summer job starting up in two weeks, I'm going to have to go for long walks at least every other day to get in shape.
Friday's walk was a minimum of fifty blocks, plus all the walking around I did in the several stores I went into.
(probably added up quite a bit, though I don't think I'd want to estimate what it added up to)

Also, due to Tim's Roll up the Rim contest, I paid for one hot chocolate, but drank three. =^.^=
(first one had a free coffee, as did the first discarded cup I picked up!)

I had a great day yesterday.
The day was gorgeous (as is today actually). My grandma sent me $300 for my 30th birthday present. I did my taxes and I am getting $1300 back. All the customers I had at work were nice. We got free wifi installed at work, 'cause Shaw is doing a thing all over town installing hotspots. And my perfume sticks from Contact Caffeine arrived in the mail.

Those machines make unnaturally awesome bread. Really heavy, though.

I'm happy that I caught the sculpting bug again and just about completed a sculpture of one of my forms over two nights. Just gotta figure out how I'm going to do the wings now. Wouldn't be able to make them out of clay.

Going back to Vancouver tomorrow. Sleep in a real bed, with a (mostly) hot shower and a less ornery cat!

Nothing wrong with bread made at home.
Y'all are just used to the fluffy crap that stores sell, because, yanno, it's cheaper for them that way...
(bread used to be that heavy)

Managed to (temporarily) ditch the built-in LCD screen my laptop uses for an external screen.
At least it doesn't have any annoying vertical coloured lines on it!

I had a pretty good (30th) birthday today! Despite the fact that I had a VI get together thread posted for a month and nobody wanted to come to it...

My boss and her Swiss baker husband made me an almond/carrot torte with cream cheese frosting and shaved hazelnuts around the outside. So tasty! Then when they left for the afternoon, all the customers I had were nice. One even (not knowing it was my birthday) gave me a bag of Ghirardelli chocolate squares. Then I got home and my sister is mostly moved in to my apartment and she got me a DQ ice cream cake (I've only had one before) and we ordered a pizza and wings for supper. My grandma also called (she sent me $300 for my birthday! holy!) and wished me a Happy Birthday.

All in all, it was a great day. :D
