Electronic Arts has a location in Burnaby, and they run play-testing sessions every once in a while, especially when they've got a game in the second-half of production.

Sessions range from an hour to several days, and you always get at least one free EA-developed game for your time.

From this Wednesday until next Sunday, they've got several sessions going on that you can apply to be picked for.
(you can't show up unless you've been picked, and you can't get picked if you don't sign up with one of the surveys they send out each time they need testers)

This week, there was a note saying that this link should get passed around to all your friends.
Since I consider all you my friends (I hope), I'll post it here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JFT3GFT

Fill out the form, including your (real) name, age, email address, etc, and when you're available, and if you're chosen for a session, you'll get an email in a couple of days.

Please note that you WILL be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (otherwise known as an NDA), so you won't be allowed to talk about what happened during testing for one whole year.
(there might also be an age requirement, though I think that's dealt with via the Age entry on the survey)

Hope you guys have as much fun as I do playing these games before they're launched!
I think I've received almost a dozen free games from them by now...

When I was there I didn't even get a free copy of the game I worked on for four months. But that was a long time ago, so hopefully they've changed for the better.

How do they get word out about the playtesting? I mean, do they have a website or e-mail group that they initially send the survey out with?

They have a mailing list set up. After you fill out the above-linked questionnaire, it'll take you to an EA Playtesting mailing list sign-up form.
If you want to go straight to the form, you can find it here:

This looks like fun. Who did the try outs?

Carl Foxmarten

I didn't... :(

Unfortunately, I also missed out on getting a free copy of SSX, as their store is now out of copies.

Oh I've got plenty of experience, I just didn't get invited to that particular session.

If you get invited to a session, post here as soon as possible to see if anybody else got invited too.

Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.

I've been to 4-5 sessions now. I also have done a bit of QA. I'm not signing up for many sessions recently because there's not much interesting going on, however, there will be soon.
