In 1982 I went to see a movie that really impressed me, at the time it had cutting edge computer effects.

1982 - Tron - Trailer

For the past few years I have always wondered what it would be like if a sequel would be made with today's computer animation... I am getting my wish as a sequel to Tron is coming out in 2010.

Official Tron Legacy Trailer

I will have high expectations for this since the first film was a generation marker. Some of this movie was filmed here in Vancouver though you will probably have a hard time recognizing anything once all the background scenery is completed... the recognizers and city scapes look very impressive.

It looks pretty good, the trailer brings to mind something like a cross between the Matrix and The Running Man.

There were a few "uncanny valley" moments, but then again, they're inside a computer program, so maybe it's intended.

My first impression of the bike crashing into the light trail scene reminded me of several Matrix type shots, slowed action with more detail.   For me I think that this film will be something that I pay more attention to the background and scenery than whats going on with the characters.

Oh wow, I can say I am really looking forward to this. I loved the original, especially the speeder bikes and this just takes the cake. Next gen tron ftw. Hopefully some good tron games will come of this as well.

All I can say is they'd better do a really, REALLY good job of it, because studios reincarnating classics and butchering them is seriously cringeworthy.

They better not fark it up with too much failed comedy relief or uncharacteristic plot devices that ruin what looks like a very good movie so far.  I will freak out big time if they start breaking into song and dance numbers every 15 minutes.. it IS Disney.
