Cd Repair

Ok going through some dvd's that I had in binders only to find out that there was some water damage on the inside. Now there is a patch on the top of the cd's that have like these perm indents on them i try cleaning them with pledge but I think they need something more drastic. some of them I can get to work others I can not.

anyone have something that works good, or idea.

The only thing necessary is a solid optical path required to read the data contained within them, there are a few CD/DVD repair kits out there that have some sort of filler that can correct the situation.

There used to be a section in a local blockbuster that had CD repair kits, this was in the 90's though. Look on Ebay maybe, meow.

If the damage is to the underface of the disc (the plastic), it can be repaired with simple car-wax.  If the damage is to the aluminum coating on the top of the disc, you are SOL.  All of the data is stored on the topface coating; the underface of the disc is just a "lens" for the laser to read the data through.

What Neox said but if not then get some "Cd Doctor" that is a little kit of Fine sand paper and a little smooth cloth and a white liquid that fixes the cd like a dream, or you might be able to get some of the white stuff at the Video store or at a computer store.

and to put that stuff on you need a flat surface a smooth cloth put a few drops on the cd and put alot of pressure on the cd and in a curcular motion around the cd realy fast it needs friction heat in order to bond to the cd and fix it.

but i just used my leg and a tissue and moderate pressure and it still worked, and dont tell people you have it or youll go threw that stuff realy fast. but if you want to help them to its up to you.

o and there will be haze on the cd thats from the cloth you cant change that its always going to happen.

Found that Pledge furniture polish is working really good but You have to work it in till the moisture seperates from the wax then wipe the excess off.  15 dvd down about 200+ to go. :-3 :-3 :-3 :-3

use a car buffer give it a good polished shine to them. lol just kidding. awsome i didnt know that could work. kool
