A while back I came across a similar topic where participants share what they want to accomplish in the future, be it visiting certain locations across the globe, perform an out of the norm activity such as bungee jumping (been there), or shake hands with a famous person. Perhaps Jack Nicholson's and Morgan Freeman's Bucket List is a far reaching example.

Though as you proceed along the path and reflect back, you realize that you may not have reached your goals but instead you've accomplished or lived through events that are just as unique and memorable and which may even have a bigger meaning than what you originally expected.

Rather than sharing what we want to achieve, which at some point we may get, perhaps in a different way, let's share our memorable moments that impacted us:

- Spending an evening at a friend's house partying with your classmates
- Having a blast on a seven hour flight with one of your best buddies
- being greeted by a coyote, the first feral canine to ever greet you
- Let yourself be carried by the stream of a creek, while round rocks massage your back
- Sleeping on a raft on a small calm lake, with a star filled sky as a canopy
- Observing the sun setting into the ocean from a mountaintop

Take up the opportunity to share your memorable achievements and moments that had an impact, suggest to maintain it to a bulleted list.

I used to live in russia and when I was in preschool my mom came to pick me up. Then on the way home we had to meet one of her friends. On the way there we walked down a street and it was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen as it was fall so there were yellow and red trees creating a canopy over the street letting a few rays of sun through. This memory always stuck with me long after we moved here. A few years ago me and my mom went back to russia to visit and by sheer luck, while we were walking to the store, we happened upon the same street that I've been dreaming about for the last eight years. I stopped and just stared lost in thought. A feeling came over me and it was the greatest feeling I've ever felt. It was blissful it felt like I was finally back home. I wish I could describe it better, but I just don't know how.
I've always been told to never look a life behind a window to go outside and join the world, but what about the world behind that window makes the outside so much better?

Let me process my thoughts for a while.
Hm...I have had two, both to do with vacations.

First thing's first, Kota Kinabalu. I metaphorically fell head over heels at the beautiful sunsets and the clear glass water. It was the best moments of life that I treasure.

Secondly, I've been to the southern most tip of Africa - aka the Cape of Good Hope.
Yipper yapper yip yap!

I must say this thread really made me reflect upon the more positive memorable moments in life...which I rarely do. Thanks Wereman for starting something like this.

Here are some of my memorable moments that impacted me:

  • Went up to Cypress Mt on an August night with a bunch of friends to watch the meteor shower. Remember staring at the night sky, trying to soak up the whole show in...left me sorta stunned, and at the same time I felt sorta small. There's still so much in the world that I have yet to see...
  • Walking on the Great Wall of China. I could barely contain my disbelief and amazement on how ancient China could accomplish building such this long structure. Just imagining the magnitude of human lives sacrificed working on such a project, is mind blowing...
  • Hiking up the Chief for the first time. It's hard for me to describe that sense of achievement. It was even more so when I looked back up at the cliff as I was leaving for home. Damn, I actually walked up that thing.

I agree with Shino. Thanks Wereman for reminding us to look at the bright side of life every once in a while.

One of my favourite memories (and I can safely say that few other people have had this) was in my university calculus courses, when things I'd read about in some of the books I'd read (which were written by a mathematician) started to make sense.

Thank you all for sharing, I am glad to see that Carl and Shino appreciate this opportunity to recognize what their memorable moments were and how it impacted you. Seeing at the bright side can be a tough challenge, and loved ones can tell you again and again, yet you have to recognize your fortune yourself.

I hiked up Cypress Mountain earlier this year and it had quite an impact:

After sharing this image to a friend, it gave her the motivation to continue her path. She soon found in her home territory a similar place where she can find peace.

That said, I hope the weather will stay as it is for the next few days and see whether it is possible to observe setting suns in lower Mainland (looks promising).

I like the three pictures Whitefoot. Did you all pictured these foxes? Reminds me the time when I looked at a fox eye to eye for 20 seconds, we were 3 feet apart (actually my memorable moment list could have been much longer).

Yesterday at the bus stop in White Rock I saw a woman waiting at a red light dancing to the loud music on her radio. Inspired, I started to groove along with her from the sidewalk. She laughed, took my picture and waved bye when the light turned green. It was a fun 30 seconds, the highlight of my day yesterday.  ;D

for me its water i was sitting under water in sky blue lake looking up and you know what water does to light well that looked realy beautiful i wish i could hold my breath forever, but when you let go of a bit of air and it slowy makes its way to the surface make all sorts of shapes and splitting off to make even more beautiful things, all you can hear is the water, your heart beat and rocks moving around you as people step on them, I love that moment and Ones like it.
No wait i totaly do!

Standing on the end of the jetty at the mouth of the Coquille River in Bandon, Oregon, staring into the face of a Pacific gale and realizing that there was nothing out there in front of me all the way to Asia. Love that feeling.

Similarly, standing on a point in a nameless lake about two hours' north of Terrace on the road to Alice Arm, not far below the treeline, surrounded by scrub trees and not much else. Absolutely beautiful spot, and one of my favorite moments of a really bad summer.

Heh, I like that one Renwaldo, makes you wonder how far up the road you will remember this. Thank you for sharing.

Water seems to have quite an impact on us but the endless blue and how it plays with light can put you in a stage of trance or weightlessness. Depending whether you are on the shore or in it, provided it is a natural body of water.

I saw a blind man get on the 49 bus yesterday wearing a flame-patterned shirt, golden high heels, and no pants.

Don't think he was even conscious of the fact.

what Johnny thought was H2O was H2SO4
Jimmy was a chemist's son but drank some HCl
he thought it was H2O and now he burns in hell

Blind man on the bus in this outfit, this is a unique sight you do not see every day.

Reminds me when I boarded a bus once and saw an overly lively family having a fun time playing with another passenger's dog. Okay, they were loud, but spirits were high.
