Hey All,

I come before you with a problem and am requesting aid in being pointed to the proper resources. My roomate has a rather large iguana, we're talking in the few feet long range, who has become rather vicious in the past year or so. This has lead to the problem of any time anyone gets near the cage he is in the lizard will charge it and smash itself in to the bars. Each time the lizard does this it damages its face, which has become rather wounded. Also, interaction with the lizard has become next to none because the lizard tends to threaten or thrash when you get near.

I was wondering if anyone knew any experts my roomate could call to talk to who might be able to offer solutions on how to bring the lizard back to a more docile state. My roomate dearly loves the lizard and wishes to care for it and give a good quality of life, but she's run out of ideas on how to approach this problem and could use advice. If possible she want to fnd a way to rehabiliate the lizard back to the approachable state it was in before.

Now, if this isn't possible, she is willing to give it up in the interest of it having a higher quality of life than it is now, but she really wants to try to work with it first if there is any way possible. But, if that falls through, as a backup my other question is if anyone knows of a place that would be able to take a large iguana and give it a good quality of life?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

I don't know of many animal hospitals with exotic animal specialities, but I do know of ONE in Abbotsford that you may try calling.

Dr. Borgmann is the one I always take my reptiles to go see.  Unfortunately, I have zero experience with iguanas, so I can't give you any advice; but I'm sure they could help you out, or at the very least, refer you to someone who can. =)

Good luck!
