Since this seems to have become the unofficial car thread - I'm seriously thinking about buying a Pontiac G8 GT (I'd consider the GXP but it's a lot more expensive and doesn't have VCM, which means lousy fuel economy). The used prices on them have been in freefall since Pontiac got axed, but GM's said they'll be honoring the warranties - only catch is that parts might get expensive since I think they probably get imported from Australia. Also, resale value will probably be laughable.

What I'd really like to do is get a G8 and then get a Holden Commodore HSV conversion kit and confuse people with my weird Australian car.

A friend of mine has a G8 GT that I drove when they were up here and it was suh-weet.

EDIT: The guy at Dueck told me Pontiac's sold out of new G8 GTs across Canada but still has some of the V6s left (yawn). Think I want a used one anyway, though.

Ya, the Richmond ricers were the 'other' set of street racers in our little world back in the day.  We stayed away from them because of their trends of racing on public roads rather than isolated ones, and because.. well, they were basically all blow off valves and fart can exhaust systems.  Any of our 'domestic' crowd could walk all over them before they were even in 2nd gear.

Actually, double clutching is ONLY meant for down shifting, or shifting when you have an 18 wheeler with no synchros in the transmission :)  I believe what you meant to say was there's a possibility of shifting WITHOUT a clutch at all, but that's only for race car transmissions on the drag race track.  Not much use on the street (they pop out of gear when you let off the gas).

With a  Eaton Fuller 18 speed you only need to cluth 1st for take off.  Switching Range and Hi-low takes some experience and knowing when and listing to the truck.. Most of them shift at the same points.. most 18 speeds are Eaton fullers with the exception of Macs Tripple counter shaft transmission and the old school A boxes.. and the autoshift and automatic junk.  I pulled a mac tripple once.. Worst trans ever. lol  You can double clutch for upshifts too to let the rpms drop depending on the gear ratios but who ever does that. You just mashem as much as ye can and maker stink lol.  god I hate those fart cans

Hee hee, i have made a few shifts withought using my clutch, just by matching RPMs, whilst being to fast with my shifter, and too slow with my clutch LOL

Heh heh, Yikes indeed XD but this is ok, if you knew how i drove on a daily basis it would be easy to see why this happens sometimes XD

And judging by that picture for that clip... o have just lost a little more faith in people >.<

Hee.  I have an old RX-7 FC ('86), non-turbo, but GXL with the factory bodykit that actually looks tasteful.  I bought it like this (paint, rims and all) for cheap, and yes the paint is keyed and the rims busted to all shit, but:

Was a daily driver for a while until I moved to Metrotown, now it's groceries and band practice and seeing my parents; daily I just take the SkyTrain and save a TON of money on gas.  (Woo 15L/100km rotary! C.C;)

One day I'll either fix it up more and sell it; as it stands the poor thing is going to get driven into the ground. XD

Yesterday I saw one of the new Genesis Coupes (I live near little Korea), a very nice looking car for the price:

And only 24K for the base model.  Too bad it's a Hyundai!

I test drove one of the 3.8 V6 Genesis Coupes a while ago. Nice little car, and one I'll consider when I buy my next vehicle. Hyundai's doing some surprisingly-nice stuff nowadays - stuff people might actually actively want instead of just settling for.

hey, no one can deny it, before Hyundai sucked, now they are making pretty good cars, my mom had a Tiburon before she got her Mustang and that thing was SNORTY! for being the 4-cylinder, it rode on rails up to about 180 where it got a little floaty, but all in all a great little car, now the Genesis HO HO! thats a NICE car that HAULS XD
