hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew where's a good place to look for right hand drive cars, ya I know kinda long shot asking here but I've look around for a while and couldn't find anything good. I'm trying to find a AE86, right hand drive standard car (1983-87 Toyota Corolla Trueno). If anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction that would be great, thanks

There's a dealership on Lougheed (near Holdom Skytrain) that sells weird Japanese Kei cars, they're all right hand drive.

There are many dealers but as far as a good reputation is concerned I'd checkout:

If you do decide to import yourself/ through a company such as feast. It's best to do a bit of research so you get all the papers that you will need, all in order, to get the vehicle registered.

here are some copy pasted steps for registration in bc (copied from gtrcanada)
1. Get the proper paper work (Form 1, Bill of Sale, Japan de-registration).
2. Get a temporary operators permit (TOP) or arrange for towing.
3. Get a passing vehicle inspection. (VI/ Government approved)
4. Go to an autoplan agent.
5. Apply for a re assigned VIN
6. Wait 72 hours for your new vin.
7. Be prepared for some asshole to drill two new holes in your car for that re assigned VIN
8. Go back to your autoplan agent and insure your car.

Note: for step 3 you will need to have DOT lights installed and possibly other parts depending on vehicle (I'm not sure for an ae86)

note x2: Canadian Tire will do government inspection's

Panda possibly (only cause I like the colors) but no sticker, and no...this isnt cause of Inital D, it's actually one of the better cars to learn to drift and etc

As long as you're doing it at AutoX or closed courses and not on public streets, that's cool. :) I have an RX-7 FC, but it's just a beater/grocery car... lol

eventually I take it closed area, how about normal left hand drives and where to get em? Craigslist, buysell and stuff like that arent working too well, wondering if there is a dealer or something

Just keep your eyes open on craigslist, I'd say. If your looking to get into drifting I recommend getting a 240sx. They have a bit more power and tend to understeer, which makes controlling a drift much easier, and parts are a dime a dozen. Only thing is you wont exactly stand out... go to any amateur drift event and you will see that 240sxs will outnumber every other car... combined

Yeah; one of my friends has a 240SX and we'd get into little mock arguments as I have an RX-7, its big competitor from the time. :p  I <3 my RX-7, but yeah, holyshitoversteer. :O  Something about the weird torque curve from the rotary and the 50/50 front/rear weight split makes this thing tail happy. :p  I drive very very gingerly in the rain... but in the dry it's fun to merge onto the highway when there's little traffic and have the tires chirp juuust slightly off the onramp. ;)

careful, I was just reading in the newspaper yesterday morning they are trying to ban right-handed driving cars in BC and canada

That's been up for debate before Star, but nothing has come of it. They are trying to ban them for "Safety" reasons. IE: The plain fact that the driver is on the opposite side of the vehicle. Big deal. It just means you really have to reach if you need to pay a toll or grab a ticket from a machine at a pay lot.
