Biker Mice from Mars, Lunar.

As for my own story, it's really quite simple... a long, sordid history of tabletop roleplaying, with furry themes, predating common use of the internet. Lo and behold, hitting my teenage years, I got hit like a ton of bricks with the revelation that there are indeed furries online after being directed to Furnet IRC by fellow geeks on rpol.net (Alas, the place has changed quite a bit since). Of course, that was predated by fandom in the SCA, the local sci-fi associations and the usual nerd clique in school. Born and raised geek, the child of two engineers.

I've always had a big imagination, and I'm pretty sure it was the art that got me here, been almost 9 years now :/
Where did all that time go?
Oh right... to music and art...

For me I never really had that sudden "oh my god this is the best thing ever" moment, I just sorta slowly found various elements of the furry community online without ever knowing what a furry was and then by the time I knew what a furry was I already was one, this gradual process almost lead to some embarrassing moments because I didn't realize some people hated furries (one of my old friends was one such person) and on several occasions I almost revealed I was a furry, due to me thinking pretty much everything in the fandom was awesome, I even had a fursona before I knew what a furry was, I just saw others doing it and I was like "hey that's cool I should do that too"

Mine was very.... convoluted.

- Very into big boobs from an early age.  Very big.  Very. I also started experimenting with falsies to pretend to be very busty myself.
- Years of enjoyment there somehow led to the appreciation of herms/futa. Helped along by already sort of seeing myself as one.
- Quickly exhausting the available material THERE, I discovered there's a LOT of drawn herm stuff.
- And all the best stuff was furry stuff.
- After exhausting all the furry herm stuff, I began to appreciate some of the regular furry stuff (and was surprised to enjoy it).
- Now I like it in it's own right.

Well, ok, that was less convoluted, but it took about fifteen years of craziness to come to like it.

I actually found the furry art style in Grade 9 actually, I was reading TOTSE's Porn thread and amongst the usual shit and bongdildoes someone posted some furry bondage art, a touch crude but I found it interesting. All through highschool, I secretly DL'd art and saved it to hidden folders on a flash drive.

I Came to read yiffstar through A splinter group of Grammar Nazis by the name of the PPC, and when they turned on each other due to massive drama, I wandered the net seeking out chatrooms, eventually finding one filled with furs. They then pointed me to #VAF, and you know the rest.

I became interested in the fandom after watching a couple documentaries that touched on furries, interested I searched online to what it was all about which lead to a few communities and organizations that I rather enjoy being part of.
New to the community.

Ah great, where do I begin?

I have to admit, Pokémon sorta got me into the furry fandom in the first place. I wasn't as interested in furries based off of real life animals in the first place, and that was when I was 15 or so. I met a friend online, a friend that I've met in person recently, of whom he was a scaley.

Let's see, I remembered that I was in a bit of a bind when I had to decide on my Pokésona years ago, and that was before I decided to anthropomorphize it. I started off with a Latios, then an Articuno anthro, followed by my now alternative Pokésona furry, a Mightyena.

I used to consider the terms "furry" and "anthro" to be distanced from one another, but now that I think back to it, I'm not really that sure. Oh well.

Moving on, I've found my interest in furries on deviantART about two or three years ago - a gray wolf "anthropomorphic", as I liked to call myself back then. I loved canines, although raising them would be a bit of a problem, as I have no idea how to balance work with raising a pet, and my family members refuse to own any pets of sorts.

The reason that I decided to alter my fursona, as I like to identify myself nowadays, is because I want to find something to represent more of myself. I'm more urbane than I am wild, and that was the main reason I decided to consider myself as part wolf, and part spitz. My favorite type of dog is, unsurprisingly, the spitz type. At first I wanted to identify myself as a Pomeranian-wolf, but I've had a hard time trying to formulate something out of it, so I decided to leave the specific type of spitz to being a medium/large spitz of sorts. I do have to admit though, it was the "wolfaboo" community of sorts that scared me away from my wolfsona...I love wolves myself, but I don't want to be targeted for my interests.

I have yet to tell my family that I'm a furry, and thus, I'm more or less a closet furry. The few public "identities" of my furry self, if there are any is the fact that I wear a "Mountain Wolf" brand of a backpack. Is there any way that I could explain to my IRL friends and family regarding my furry identity?

P.S. There were a couple of cases in which my profs in my class talked a bit about furries...one of them was in a Online Media Studies class in my first year studying at UBC, and another time was on my prof writing about furcons in a Creative Writing class during my second year. I heard snickers and groans in both of my classes in terms of reactions, which sorta contributed to me being covert about my furry identity.
