I can never find a swim suit that I actually like. Why? Because I have weird tastes, probably. I can never find maternity clothes that I like either. I'll likely spend the next three months in a tank top and pj pants. ANYWAY! My point is, this has me thinking about the pros of making my own swimsuit. I like sewing, and have always had a bit of a eye for design. And I wanted to know if anyone has/had any thoughts for furry swimsuits? I bet I could make them... :p i just need a sewing machine...
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, either way you're right.

So many different variations on the concept. A smandex/cotton mix base with a poly' pile in a two piece. Attacking a tail to that would probably pull the rim down past your butt crack.
There's the more animal approuch with the normal material but in a four piece bathing suit to cover all six nipples.
I think a pair of full eyes google (eg. http://www.parpool-spa.com/images/Toys/ILP/Casablanca-mask.jpg with the frame covered in fur would look pretty trippy underwater as the current makes the fluffs sway back and forth.

I think I would keep the fabric a lycra and just make the colours that of the fur. No one wants to shed in a pool after all, :p I also wouldn't want to make the suit too heavy, and any amount of fur submerged in water is going to soak some of it up.

I can't help but think if there were any pokefurs, a vaporean themed suit would be easy AND fantastic, XD

also fur has a problem when exposed to chemicals they put into the water, might end up with some funky colored swimwear. Fur patterned Lycra would be better suited for swimwear. Just a suggestion best to not have a tail on it, all you need is someone to pull on it ripping the swimwear aka embarrassed situation

yeah, I'm thinking the same about the tail, unless it was just a thin sheet that trailed behind while swimming or something. That could look cool, but probably wouldn't be worth the hassle.
