Rainfurrest story

I really don't consider myself any sort of writer but I'm taking Writing 12 and got the opportunity to write about something furry. It isn't very long funny or moving but I suspect it'll confuse a lot of people when I present it in class today. Enjoy. Or don't. Mabey don't even read it if you have anything better to do. ITS ABOUT RAINFURREST.

The predawn twilight that surrounded our drive down to the Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center had a huge calming effect on the group of us. It was alien, and a little too peaceful with their usually bright colored clothes and fur muted by the gray blue light seeping from nowhere and drenching everything.  I had expected myself to stay awake during the trip, expected that the energetic feel the days, nights, and moments leading up to getting into Mari's car would only intensify every mile we got closer. But as we drifted through the cold light Brittany and Sky had already closed their eyes and curled away from the windows pressing into me.
"Kitty, are you still awake?" Mari asked softly.
I raised my head from where I had been resting it subconsciously to smile at her through the rearview mirror.
"We'll get there faster if you sleep through it"
My throat made a noise of resign before I could think of something better to say and let my eyes close. Sleep was easily accomplished with the warmth coming off the fluffy bear-like arms of the ride mate beside me.
"Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the car voles bite,"

It's bright and the world beat me awake when I open my eyes again, and the huge paws that had wrapped themselves partially around me during my sleep were suffocating and uncomfortably hot. The contrast of his sweaty fur to the September morning air left me with goose bumps as I squinted in the half empty concrete lot. It had seemed like a lot less time than the drive actually was and I wasn't feeling ready to wake up or move let alone enter the convention.
"Well you sure woke up fast," Sky commented on Brittany's swift revival. The echo of her collar make rang through the parking lot as she bounced in place and in a circle at the same time.
"Are you READY for thiiiiis," she shouted at us through clenched teeth.
A squeaker sounded from a distance I couldn't estimate and I turned around expecting a rubber duck.
"Do it again!" Sky nudged Brittany.
She jumped twice, she jingled twice, we waited, we heard two resounding squeaks, and then came up with the same results with three. Sky and Brittany seemed to be enjoying this anonymous contact and Mari seemed amused to a minor degree as well.
"I might not be ready for this," I said only half jokingly.
"Are we early? Is that why we're still standing around? Come on," Sky gestured to the massive convention center.
A hug goodbye for Mari and an uninvited kiss on the forehead for me and we waved good bye and took a moment to stand there with our luggage. Brittany took off, tail bobbing violently side to side, and we excitedly chased after her. The anticipation fled back into me as we rushed further toward the event space and into the chilled sun. The floor to ceiling windows were only reflecting what I could already see, and revealed nothing of the other monsters and bards inside.

This story made me giddy with excitement, I almost felt as if I were there.
I WILL I swear! Make this into a comic or a flash animation.
My foot won't stop wagging. This story made me happy.
