"Outdoor Adventures Whistler" is an outfit located near the well known recreational ski resort that recently hosted many events for the 2010 Olympic games. They provide the visitor with many options to go out and experience the outdoors from snowmobiling to horseback riding to sled dog tours. A local news station here in Vancouver has uncovered a mass execution of 100 sled dogs carried out sometime in April of 2010. Documents from Worksafe BC detail that the employee who carried out the slayings shot, stabbed and cut the throats of the dogs before disposing of them in a mass grave and some were still alive.

The employee who carried out the killings is now suffering from PTSD because of the horrific scenes that they inflicted. On the radio this morning a person from the SPCA said that the dogs had mounted a counter attack on that person in an attempt to try and save themselves. More details are in the story at the other end of the link below. My reaction to it is one of outrage, why didn't the employee say no? or why didn't they take the dogs, tie them up nearby and then go directly to police or the SPCA to report what they had been ordered to do? What kind of a sick mind could order something like this? What kind of character can the employee who carried this out have?  This tour operator should be boycotted and shut down, this is another case of "beware the hand of man."

The new name for Outdoor Adventures Whistler should be Husky Auschwitz.

Extra Note: just heard on the radio, the police are now investigating the incident.

Don't be fooled by the glitz and glam of Whistler Resorts. The only classy people in that town don't bother staying very long, they're just there for vacationing. The real town residents are all redneck trash.

You got to remember that before start of the olympics Whistler was much smaller, and was comprised primarily of sports bars and tiny ski lodges.

100 Sled Dogs were slaughtered in Whistler after a tour company had a time of slow business, not euthanised...Slaughtered, either by shooting or slicing the throat

I've signed this petition to make sure this company see's justice.

I don't ask much of the community, but if you think this is as wrong as i do, you'll sign the bloody thing

Ah yes I read about this.

It enrages me that some moronic redneck is now collecting money for his psychological trauma after he failed to call spca and failed to humanely kill one hundred dogs.

Why is this employee not being brought to justice? He started to feel guilt only long after the suffering animals had all passed away - many did so slowly - in a mass grave. I believe 'he' should receive no compensation and that he ought to be charged along with his employer for this monstrous act.

This link doesn't appear to be working, but the one on my FA is for whatever reason, lol

unfortunately the legal process in BC doesn't accept online petitions (or at least it didn't last I checked) so I'm afraid thepetitionsite.com is of no help to your cause. :\
If you really want to see them get shut down, you'll actually have to canvass people, maybe set up a petition in a pet store or something, if it hasn't been done it already.
As for those poor dogs.. It really is a shame. I feel sorry for the guy who was ordered to do it. It only came to light because he went to WCB about it, the poor man. I'd suffer from more than PTSD if I'd been ordered to do that. Although, the dogs probably would've lived. It's the boss I'd be worried about.

It's disgusting enough that 100 of them were killed. Many, if not most/all, were killed inhumanely/improperly. The real outrage is that this was PREVENTABLE, had other actions been taken. He could have gone to the media and asked for help in finding them new homes. Odds are, he would have had that help by the end of the day. But no.

As for the guy who carried out the order, he could have refused. Hell, he could have even made an excuse citing WorkSafe BC regulations (safety hazards, health hazards, etc).

Fuck that shit.
He was a perfectly sane adult and was aware of what he was doing.
Personally I hope that he never forgets the guilt of what he's done, and I hope people will remember him for what he did for the rest of his life. He's getting off scott free. He doesn't deserve redemption at this point.
Really he should be charged right along side with his boss.

I agree that it was stupid of him to agree to do it in the first place, but in this economy I'm not terribly surprised that he tried to keep his job by not arguing. Following my general assumptions that most people are good people, and have good reasons for doing things like this, he must have been in a terrible TERRIBLE place to think that killing 100 dogs would be easier than losing his job.

Words can not do those dogs justice nor fully emphasize how disgusting and cruel people are. Signed.

This is beyond freaking disgusting
But throws up other questions...
What the hell was hung over the employees heads to actually do this?
Were they desperate for a job?
Bribed?
Threatend?

I hope those poor dogs find a nice little doggy house in the sky :(
And the people who did this go to a very very special place in hell
