Ugh.. I can see it now.. She's going to act as retarded as she possibly can to give furries a bad (worse) name.  Do I even wanna watch?

YEH I DO!

I'm actually quite disappointed that I work evenings and thus will be at work for both showings wednesday night. Some one should tape it and put it on mega upload for me, just so I can see it after. Though it's kind of sad that TLC's ratings for this show will undoubtedly go up because of all the paranoid furries who wanna watch it and see just how bad she is.

I propose a proper documentary be done to counter the bad media we've been getting. Something that shows the more reasonable and awesome side of the fandom. Like that old Disney Robin Hood movie!! <3

Just to expand on this, The latest Simpsons episode, had Moe running a gay bar and he was gonna run as a represntitive for gays, among the groups that supported them were Furs. THough Bumblebee man being labeled as a fur made me laugh, the fact that they now think all furs are gay is just.....ugh

I think it is a fair comment on the part of the Simpson's.  It was not particularly negative at all and it is true that furries are primarily male and Bi or homosexual.  It is called being able to laugh at yourself.  :monocle:

I wouldn't say furries are primarily male. Although I have noticed that most male furries do seem to be at least bi. Though that seems to be true of the female furries as well.

I'll have to actually watch the episode before I can really say if it was portrayed negatively or not though. Although with all the positive publicity gay rights is getting, I can't imagine it'll be all THAT bad.

Though this also kills my earlier idea for a furry simpsons episode.. Zeke will be most assuredly bummed out...

Furry survey is probably the most accurate source we have on the distribution of furs

You're not willing to just accept the old saw that furry publicity is always negative? I like you already.

Yes, but following that, most furries are actually straight. You can't have your cake and eat it to! Know why? BECAUSE THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!

If we're going to wave statistics, the fandom's two-thirds majority is bisexual to some degree, ~22% are heterosexual, and ~11% are homosexual, with a heterosexually leaning bias in the bisexual crowd. However, both "All furries are gay" and "The majority of furries are hetero" are falsehoods, as both gay-identifying and heterosexually identifying furs are outnumbered by those riding the Kinsey scale in the middle somewhere. Mind you, sexuality is a difficult concept to gauge accurately; whims change frequently, and no offense, but bisexual preferences frequently depend on the immediate sexual situation of the person identifying on that axis somewhere. We're a little off topic now, however...

Very diplomatically put. ;)

Yes, but following that, 60% of respondents to that particular survey are also between the ages of 15 and 24, which is where most sexual exploration happens. It has been my experience that most teenagers, and college students, will call themselves bisexual during their exploration stage and won't actually come to a solid conclusion on their sexuality until 24 - 26 years of age.

Besides. statistics are scaremongering tools. xp

A fair point. Anecdotally, I've certainly had some experiences with people who were, er, experimenting. Like my first boyfriend.

That doesn't mean they should be dismissed out of hand, it just means we need to look carefully at how statistics are derived and not be too quick to credit them.

i took statistics last semester, and the teacher pretty much told us that 'statistics are bunk.' it really depends on what questions are asked, and where the sample came from. i'd like to see more proof personally. and i'd like to know who was asked, what is the sample, really?
