There are too many forums on the nets these days. And I'm pretty sure we've all been on a few in the past and had to leave or been kicked out for some reasons. The only two I can recall are ones based on Jurassic Park and the other a Lion MMO RPG.
The first one, Jurassic Island was a forum dedicated to die hard fans of Jurassic Park and Dinosaur fans in general. It was a pretty interesting forum, lots of characters youd meet. There was even a racist southerner who expressed his racism subtle but out there. I was on there for about maybe a year or 2. The reason I'm not there anymore, well...it went extinct XD I was coming back from vacation and went on the forum only to find that the forum shut down. I dunno why, never got a reason why. But it was kinda sudden. Its funny, cause around the same time, I was DA and I created a stamp that says " I Survived Jurassic Island" for all those who were on the forum until it died.
The other was a forum for a TLK(The Lion King)-ish lion MMO RPG, Impressive Title. Some of you might have played the game for been on the forum before. The game was good, kinda bland but it kept things interesting. You basically created a lion or lionish wolf character and played with other users. You could choose from different colors, styles, tails, ears, etc. The forum was just the same as the game. But there were major problems with the community. First, the admin was a dictator. She never cared about any users problems in the game, unless they were her own or one of her close personal friends (Anyone who could make photoshops). Practically, if you didnt know how to make meshes or use blender, you didnt matter to her. Plus she left the community for about half a year leaving a HUGE pile of problems. There was alot of drama there, I think its the only forum out there with that much drama. People always fighting, trolls invading, new members getting picked on, etc. The main drama was in game as well. People stealing other peoples items, people hacking, etc etc. To make it short, it was just a bad community. To anyone whos thinking of joining, dont, theres just too much drama there. Thats why I left, the drama was getting in the way of my friendships with people, so i had to defriend lots of people there. Im glad I left that hell hole to be honest.

What about you guys? Any forums that youve been to in the past and had to leave?

I a moderator on a barely active forum still.  A shame, too, because it was one of the nicest places on the net.

I have to admit that at one point I was a member of the Counter-Strike Off Topic forum.  If anyone was on that in the early 2000's, they'd know what a s-hole that place was.  Like a warmup for /b/ and SA.

Haha - wow, do you guys really want to know?

I just checked, and my first experience with the internet, back in 1995, is somehow still there (but a hollow shell).

Damn, that website is an antique.  While it pre-dated forums, the "chat zone" worked similar to a shoutbox, where what people would post would appear one after the other on the page.

Me and a fellow nerd friend would sit in front of his parents' computer for hours, just amazed that people who weren't physically in the room, and whom we'd never met before were actually talking to us!
Then we'd call them dirty names. :D:highfive::D
Back then it didn't take much to make people angry over the internet.

I use to always go to the IGN forums.  But it got lame and a select few people really peeved me off.

Who is Jodie Sweetin?

My first genuine online experience was probably Go-Gaia.com. It's still running and at a very high capacity, now it's called Gaiaonline.
The community's lost much of it's original charm, it used to be a forum focused around anime fandom and rp's. Now it's just another teen spam forum with games and an mmorpg plotlike comic.

It's got a great avatar system though. I'll say in that much it has improved.

She was the middle kid on Full House - for some reason at the time it was the only "chat room" we could find.  Back then pre-google it was actually pretty hard to find stuff on the internet.

I can't think of any forums offhand (even though I'm sure there were some), but I was pretty involved in BBSes back in the 1992-1994 timeframe. I was a sysop on one for a while but eventually got de-sysoped after a disagreement with the other sysop (who actually ran the system). It never really took off, anyway.

I have been on way too many forms in my day x.x

First was gimp talk, the graphic design community, not anything sexual lol. It was already, but it kinda hit the ceiling as far as growth and what the program could do.
At the same time I was playing runescape and was in a clan, so of course I was on the clan forms all the time. However that got boring and I quit playing runescape ere go I stopped frequenting clan forms.
After that was a place called planet renders which was another graphic design board, I really don't know what happened there just one day I fell off the map as far as that site was concerned, but I learned a lot from that place.
Then I discovered furry, as with most younger furs the first place I found was furtopia. I didn't post as much there but I did frequent the IRC all the time. The place ended up being a little to PG for my taste and I kinda out grew that place when I started to search for local furs.
Followed by that was fur4u, I don't know if many remember it but it was a small form that took care of eastern Canada. At the time it was the most active form for the area to my knowledge.
Alberta Furries was started shortly after and I jumped on that, people started switching to regional forms and fur4u died shortly after, I still am a very active member on the alberta furry boards and a super mod there.
*pants*
And now I am here on BC furs! =p

hmm this is a tough one for me because back when I first started using the internet all the websites were basically BBS's and MUD's/MUCKS. I doubt I can remember the very first forum I was ever on.......that was in like 1988 or 1989. I can barely remember the forums I went to 5 years ago for kameo's sake!

Yeah, I'm not even sure anymore quite when forums started becoming so popular - early-mid 00s sometime?

Oh boy.
I used to play this old RP Server on a bad 16bit game that i do not want to mention, it was kinda fun aside from the lack of decent people, and its highest ever playercount was about 73.
forum was about the same, lots of booring people and irritating people, etc.
I decided to quit that game after having enough of its horrible staff team, its terrible playerbase and laziness of people looking for RP. (unless it came KNOCKING ON THEIR DOORSTEP they wouldn't do anything. which eliminates the purpose of roleplaying when it never happens.)
before i quit i went onto the forum, and flooded every active thread and board with large amounts of furry "Art" in order to piss of the fur-haters on the server.

Ironically if not for that game i probably wouldn't be a furry

I pop onto rave forums once in a while. I used to be on them all the time but then each one had their own reasons for me to only pop on once in a blue moon.

http://www.raversonly.com because it's not that active and most of the members are from the New York area
http://www.glowsticking.com because it's got strict members, or the other members that aren't strict are annoying
http://www.genxglow.com because it became too business-like, and I've been a member since it was 3 months old. Its focus point used to be glowsticking mostly, but now it's music
http://www.kanditrade.net because the administrators ban practically everyone (Except me, because I never post)

Well if we want to get technical the first Forums where the BBS's back in the mid to late 80's, but forums themselves didn't start gaining popularity till the late 90's and early 00's. But don't quote me on that I don't keep track of internet trends =P

Oh yeah! I was active on loungeX for a while during my raver phase. Doesn't look like they have a forum anymore, though.

Meh, I lurked the WoW realm forums quite a bit. Now I hardly ever go there. Too much trash and garbage for my tastes.
