Saw this too. I was like "Oh no" My family laughed at me. Least I only do birthdays and conventions.

When I first saw the show, my initial thought was "How long will it take until furries get featured".  Glad to see it only took 3 weeks *eyeroll*
Obviously retaurded.

That's cool, I think. Is it a positive thing or is the show generally pretty trashy? I stopped watching tlc a few years ago prior to the name change and after Debbie Travis left.  :-\

Do we have a name for this girl yet or is it a big secret?
Does she have an FA account?

Rhari

It's a pretty trashy show. Most of what TLC is showing now a days seems sub-par... Lots of reality and crap mostly.

She doesn't have a name yet, that I know of, but I'm sure we could find out if we wanted to. She's a Hot Pink and White fox. Looks like a Fullsuit that she also wears as a partial. I don't have cable at home myself. I only happened to see an advert for it while I was at my folks this evening. Everyone else got a big kick out of it and ribbed ME for it, seeing as I'm the only furry in my family.
Obviously retaurded.

What, When was this? I havent seen it yet.
I havent seen this person yet. Is there a Drawing of it that I could see?
This sounds interesting and "Omg WRYYY?"
Thanks for the link to this thread.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who saw that commercial.
Frankly I think its offensive. The show is about addictions, bad ones, and they try to get people to stop doing them. From what i can tell, they're trying to get this girl to stop fursuiting and probably stop being a furry all together.
Seriously? Thats like asking a Otaku to stop watching Anime. You cant just get people to stop being who they wanna be. So the girl wears fursuits all the time. Shes a fur, thats what some furs do. Why cant you just accept we are who we are and stop trying to make us something we dont wanna be?

Zetta

Because we live in a society that demands perfection and all that stuff.

Pretty unfortunate, but the first person to open their mouth controls everything :/

Renwaldo

Well that depends on how badly she's addicted.
Does she really wear it 'all' the time? Does she hold a job? Does she have family, friends, a life aside from fur-suiting?

Kanan

Heh. Never herd of this show. o.o Then again I don't watch much tv...
Anyways sounds like another thing for me and my dad to laugh at, thanks for the link.

I used to watch TLC back when it actually was The Learning Channel.  Before we got Discovery Channel it was my Discovery Channel.  I watched that series all about weather, and later discovered Paleoworld just before it went off the air.  In grade school, two girls asked me if I knew about TLC and I gave the quintessential geek reply, "Sure The Learning Channel."  Then had meant TLC the R+B group.  Then The Learning Channel became The Living Channel and it seemed like they had nothing but home makeover shows.

Anyway, "My Strange Addiction"?  God, I hope they don't stage an intervention on her.  I have this feeling I will spend the entire program mentally shouting "YOU STUPID MUNDANES" and composing essay-length replies to why she shouldn't be packaged and conformed like the Borg.  I hope she is not one of those furries whom most of us would rather not see on TV but is always there putting a wrong face on the fandom.

I think I will need to watch this one, if only on the off chance that it becomes the next "That CSI episode" scenario. Why is it that the media frequently manages to only find "freaks" (who frequently are quite functional, normal people with an interesting and artistic hobby) to dredge up and wield as a brush to paint entire subcultures with?

So then we need to clarify the mis conception one way or another.

because people only see the negative
