So i'm starting a new file in Pokemon HeartGold.
I'm having a bit of trouble deciding on my team,
I'm starting with Cyndaquil, and i'm hoping my final team will look a /little/ somthing like....

Typhlosion
Ampharos
Victreebel
Espeon
Gyarados

But i can't really seem to decide on a good flying type.
I'm /strongly/ against using Legendaries, because it's cowardly.
So i've nailed it down to about two flying types i could use,
Togekiss, Or Dragonite.
What do you guys think i should do??

PS. If you want to add any suggestions onto my main team, or suggest any other flying types, feel free! <3

Togekiss is pretty badass, I've found, with the range of moves it can learn and use - Aura Sphere is great.
I might reconsider on Ampharos - I actually switched it out for a Luxray, which has higher attack values but lower speed, after I was able to bag one in the Safari Zone. (mind you, I tend to build very offense-focused teams - attack, attack, attack! - so take that with a grain of salt.)
I like my Dragonite, but it's got that weakness to ice and electric that makes it kind of dodgy in some cases. Gyarados has similar issues. To me, it looks like a fairly good team though.

Use swampert because he's amazing.
im still amazed how it can learn earthquake, surf and blizzard, have tank stats and only one weakness.

soooo haaaaax.

swampert > Gyarados.

Riot Da Woof!

You need a Seaking somewhere in that Line Up...

My version of that is a Quagsire that I had never intended to have in the team for very long. It was still hanging around, with all those moves, and totally decimated Lance's Dragonites... the first one used a move that couldn't get a one-shot KO and made it confused after a couple shots, so I just full-healed each round until it hurt itself, then took the hit and nailed it with Blizzard for the KO. Then rolled through the rest of them. I couldn't believe it.

If you wanna use the best pokemon you can w/o using a legendary, use Wobbuffet >.>

A good flyer though? Aerodactyl.

Meh, I decided i'm making my friend help me get all three starters,
Then i'll use Ampharos, Togekiss, And possibly Gyarados.
My friend says Gyarados sucks, but others say he's borderline legendary.

You do realize that Gyarados is 4x weak to electric.......it's FLYING WATER TYPE gyarados is strong but has MAJOR weakness

Indeed. Gyarados is intimidating if it can hit you, but if you've got a fairly quick Electric type it goes nighty-night in a big hurry.

Gyarados is one of the best physical sweepers out there.

Even before a Dragon Dance he outspeeds most electric type pokemon. The only problem pokemon he has are like Jolteon, or special sweepers w/ Thunderbolt like Gengar.

That's actually not true, most electric types beat gyarados in speed

The majority of electric type pokemon that outspeed Gyarados are like, plusle and minun and guys like that, which sadly, aren't that good. There are 3 good (Non-Legendary) electric types that are faster than Gyarados, and they are Jolteon, Electrode, and Electrivire.

Having a 4x weakness doesn't make you a bad pokemon, Salamence has a 4x Ice weakness and he's on the same level as most legendary pokemon.
