my family knows i'm furry.
my mom, dad, brother, other family members.

my mom thinks its cute and i shere pics with her eveynow and then.
BUT PLEASE DON'T LET HER SEARCH IT ON GOOGLE!

dad was weirded out by the whole thing.
me wearing a tail around the house, plush toys everwhere, and so on.

but he's starting to warm up it all.
he even showed my Geddan video on youtube to the guys in the Roadmen Car Club he's in.
AND THAY LIKED IT! XD

so i would say that my family pretty good with the fur thing.

Well you know, it takes a few broken eggs to make an omelette.  To familiarize people with the PROPER definition of a furry and what the furry community really is, it's gonna take a few people like you and me to take the fall for all the stupid sons of bitches that make this place look like a filthy brothel.  By that, I mean it's gonna take folks like myself who just don't give a shit what people think of their associates and their interests to puff their chests out and say "Yeah, I'm a fur, and I'm also a productive member of society and I am NOT a zoo/pedophile.  DON'T associate me with the unemployed WoW-addicts that make the community look bad because you know me well enough to know that I'm the opposite of that."

That, or you could say like I usually say: "I'm part of a small detachment of the furry-community that DOESN'T suck. =|"

If you want to be a part of a community that has a bad rep, you're going to need to NOT be a closet-freak.  Hiding in the furry-closet achieves nothing because people are GOING to find out eventually, and when they do, they're going to see your insecurities as a sign that you agree with the idea that the furry community is a messed-up world that nobody wants to be a part of.  I am not saying that people should jump out of the closet in their fursuits and start shrieking "FURRY PRIDE FURRY PRIDE YAAAAAY!" :gay:  What works is when someone asks you "What's that you're looking at on that computer thar?" You straighten your spine and say "Well, I'm enjoying some alternative artwork that caters to this little subculture called the furry community.  It's basically a community for people who love fantasy and character-based artwork and roleplaying.  It's not too bad if you steer clear of the weirdos. =)"

Lead by example, folks, and we can turn this place around.

Yeah, I completely agree.  Aphinity told me the same thing too.
I know I use to be like that.  But now I don't really care.  My brother probably knows what kinda stuff I draw too.  And I find it an interesting topic to tell people.
Still, I know some people who likes furries, but are too ashamed to even make an account on furaffinity.

Nope and nope.

Just to update... I have started to let it slip to a select few people at work. I want to see what the typical reaction is and then proceed from there. So far responses have been other "oh cool" or "ah ok, don't care, but you're no more freaky then you were 5 seconds ago" heh.

P.S. I need to try this bubble tea business.

It's good though it depends on where you go, some places are pretty blah.

Well... unfortunately all the times that I go to bubble tea, it is always in Richmond. Though there probably some place in Burnaby near REVS. Though I usually hit up bubble tea in Richmond after bowling heh heh.

There is a good bubble tea place near revs but it closes at 11:30pm I think.......

It's called Pearl Drops, it's on Willingdon near Hastings(it's a little bit expensive but SUPER GOOD)

My sister totally knows and makes fun of me, just like i make fun of her twinky yaoi garbage! :D

I have furry art as my screensaver, lots of adult art at that. I don't care. My mom said she thought it was creepy and weird with tongue firmly in cheek, my dad is irrelevant but has never made comment either way.

I don't hide it... I don't care. x3

I have only recently revealed that I am a furry to my family and well most of my friends have know for years (even if I didn't tell them :p)
My sister and brother have not said a peep to me so either 1)They don't care or 2)They are still in shock, I have not told my mother or father though. My mother I think would be fairly receptive and understanding to the idea I think (plus I think she already knows too) my dad on the other hand I have not spoken to in years and I don't know how well he would take to the idea of me being a furrie (he still doesn't know that I am bi!!!!)
Then there is my extended family, most of which embrace the fact that I am a furrie.

Kinda. I don't hide what I am. I openly wore cat ears for many years. Until I got new glasses then the headband dug into the arms of the glasses. Now it just hurt and my dog ate my spare pair....  My mom thought is was cool. My dad just looked at me funny. My step-mom.. I don't think she really gets it.  I never outright told my brother but I'm sure my mom told him in some way.  My DH(mate) thinks it's the coolest thing ever and loves when I run around in my ears and tail.

So in general. I do not hide what I am, however I don't shove it in people's faces. If someone asks, I'll tell them but that's that.
Now.. Does my family know I'm bi.... My mom does, my brother does, my GF  ;) does and my mate does. Lol
My dad has made guesses but never outright asked and my step mom doesn't care either way.
