This is a review for the Legend of the Guardians with a saw last night. Now for those of you who havent seen it yet, Im not gonna write a huge review explaining the story, because this is a movie you HAVE to see in theaters IN 3D. 2D is not acceptable. First off, before the movie even begins it already gets more awesome than you can imagine. Since the movie was made by Warner Bros, the decided to splice in a little Looney Tunes cartoon before the movie. But the awesome thing is, its entirely computer animated AND 3D. Its another cartoon about Wile E Coyote and his hilarious attempts to catch that Roadrunner. What makes it so awesome is not only do they keep the classic looney tunes humor we all enjoy, but the CGI is SO detailed, you can ever make out the nose texture on Wile. Normally when they take a classic cartoon and revamp it (Yogi bear, Smurfs, Underdog) it fails. But this time I think it even made it better. It has all the classic cartoon humor, spliced with excellent 3D momments and topped off with crystal clear detail. I was peeing my pants laughing at the end. But anyway, onto the movie itself.
If your like me and never read the books, then it might be a little slow getting to know the story. The movies starts out well, nice flying sequence and a family scene. But quickly gets into the main plot. A little too quickly I felt. Some momments in the movie felt like they could've done more with it instead of rushing onto the next scene. As I found out, the director is also the director of Watchmen and 300. And hes well known for his slow motion momments. Unlike those 2 movies, the slow motion here actually worked well with many scenes. The brought them up at the right time and didnt over do it. The last battle did have more of the slow motion than any other scenes. But it was worth it to see the owls clashing talons in slow motion, seeing the near misses and strikes. The voice acting was great, thought I couldnt tell which actor did who lol. The CGI however is nothing short of fantastic. This was made by the people who created happy feet and they've come along way from penguins. They keep the realistic style of each owl species but just enough so that they still show emotion in their faces. And there were some cute parts as well. Like Sorans little sister puking up her first owl pellet and being frightened about it XD. What really got me about this movie was the lore and mythology of the universe its created it. I dont really know if its setting is on earth, cause some animal species in the movie seem to be in enviroments that they normally wouldnt be in (ie, Echinda by the sea).
In conclusion, this is a movie that must be seen in theaters, or on DVD(when it comes on DVD) if you have one of those 3D tvs. Great story, static characters, excellent visuals.

I'm giving this movie 9 tails out of 9 =^V^=

Blue

the echidna was foretold! :P

It was LOTR meets Star Wars meets a bunch of owls, with some matrix lol
I fell in love with most of the characters, I knew their voices too!
THE VISUALS, my goodness!
Your wish is mine to twist.
