well lets face it, people in their senior years of highschool want to date too, like me.
and well im not deperate for a date i can get one at school tomorow if i ask somone, but is it realy a good idea to date somone if they cant understand our fandom..... no it is not, as i have said.
as long as we keep the singles night from going into XXX aspects and focus on the relationship aspect of it and making freinds and possibly planning lunch or movie dates or somthing it could work out well .
we could find ourselfs luck and find an unlikely BF or GF    ^-^ :highfive: :D
Seconded.

Furries :\

Look guys it's pretty simple :)

If you want to date a fur, do the following, k?

1) Go to furry shit
2) Locate furry you are interested in
3) Manage to have showered/dressed well/brushed teeth and talk like a normal fucking person.
4) Ask if they want to go get some coffee or some shit

Holy shit you're on a date!

Skip the online bullshit, or go to pounced or something. If you have never met a person, and you are "Long distance dating" then YOU ARE NOT DATING. The first time you meet someone is your first date! Just because you've been talking to someone online for months and you get a chance to meet them, don't bring a uhaul with you in preparation of moving in.

But yeah, just be a decent person and be attractive and be socially outgoing.

Yours in Christ,
-Ember

yes but the nanimo area has next to no events that don't get cancelled.
so this could just be a furmeet and greet to get furry freinds in the area.
but please don't act so high and mighty thinging you are the love guru. some people find it hard to get out there and find somone naturaly. im not one of them as im stalked by all those "Oh gay just means hes' happy" girls who want my junk because i never realy cared openly about dating or anything like that. but let's face it, not all furrys are as awesome and timless as i the great FOX SERIPHIM OF DARKNESS  am, and find it hard to ask people out and ask for love due to a lack of self love. it goes with alot of D.R.A.M.A.......

I think its a good and bad idea.

Good idea because like stark said its hard for some furries to find someone to date that lives within visiting distance. Some furries are very insecure and shy to come up to someone and tell em they like... damnit  who am I kidding that's just me  :vik:. Alright well a non furry dating a furry doesn't go very well this is true so there good point about it >.<

Bad idea because drama. *points at the past 3 posts* All you need is a poor choice of words and a suggestion/advice becomes misunderstood as an rude insult and that's before any relationship-gone-bad thought  .

Oh and to make clear I'm not targeting anyone specifically with my own poor choice of words x.x what I meant is that people have a different way of understanding what another is trying to say especially online since you can't see the person's face or tone of voice so if you're in a bad mood you tend to see things as a direct insult towards you if you're in a good mood you usually don't care. But then again that is just my personal logic

Kitten

Just go to the events that are currently being planned or plan an event yourself, TALK to the furries that show up.  Be INTERPERSONAL in a NON CREEPY way.  Thats how I found my furry BF.

Just go to events and act like a normal person and other normal furries will talk to you. :birdy:

Just go with the flow and see what happens!

Normal as in socially acceptable

I know MANY socially acceptable furries, there are a few here that try not to be but most are

No offense, but I agree with Ember and Kitten. If you don't do anything to try to get a date, you're just going to have to wait till someone finds you. But if you really want to be in a relationship that bad, there's a word in the English dictionary called "Effort". And a tip for those that want a female, we normally want the guy to be the one to make the first move, but to also be clean and not socially awkward. We don't like being embarrassed because some weirdo is trying to talk to us in a public place. And we like the effort done in person, cuz doing it online makes people look cowardly.

Vanilla Skunk

I'm going to call it a bad idea, because if someone who says they're 19 and turns out to be 39 meets up with someone else who says they're 19 and turns out to be 12, this forum could get in trouble.

Van_Fox

If they're the only 2 there XD

And with the collapse of the furmeet, there are only a handful or so of events now.

I respectfully disagree with the notion that other events can substitute for a singles night. It actually might work out really well. Or horrendously. But I think it's worth a shot.

I get it that there are those who live in more difficult locations as far as local fur populations are concerned. That it might not be as easy to get together with others in their area because they live so far apart from any others. In my situation I live an hour out of town and have to spend that amount of time transiting one way from home to most fur related events. However, if I didn't put in the effort to go to bowling, game nights art meets etc. then I would be sitting at home all the time and that is no fun at all.  I can understand why the suggestion for a dating section might come up, it could be an easier way to find someone local.

Unfortunately a dating section could end up being a rather messy mine field to traverse in that it could cause legal problems with the presence of underaged users. You might run into a problem with posters misrepresenting themselves, or include illegal activities in their ads or even present the chance of "rejection drama" or Craigslist syndrome.  I present the following as an example.

Fur X sees Fur Y's profile (or posts) and takes an interest in Fur Y, deciding to contact them.
" HI, I'm Fur X, You seem cute/ nice. "
Fur Y thanks Fur X for the compliments and during the time that they chat or exchange messages Fur Y realizes that while Fur X is a nice guy/girl they aren't Fur Y's type.
Fur Y says  " You are a nice guy/girl but I don't think its going to work out between us., you aren't really my type. "
Fur X - "WTF!??    RAAAAGE/QUIT/RELEASE DRAMALLAMA!
Fur X freaks out and then posts things like.   "Stay way from Fur Y, they're a time waster, leads you on, is a player, an asshat and they suck...."  you get the idea.

Gorge has a point that with the demise of regular furmeets its a bit harder to make connections for friends or a significant other, but not impossible if you put in the right amount of resolution and exertion to come to a desired conclusion.
