Fetishes or not the furry community is very open and focused on sex. Its not all of it sure but you just can't deny that its a biggest portion for most people in it.

Uhh confession.... hmm I was born with both my feet twisted and had to go through operation since before I was 1. After 6 years of painful operation, orthopedic boots I'm all fixed and can walk normally though I got these huge scars and my ankle bone, i think its called talus? no idea, is a bit out of place. All that just to admit I have a foot fetish

Confession - I found the fandom by accidentally looking up porn.

There used to be an old webpage hosting site called firefoxx. However, I ended up looking up Foxxfire instead of firefoxx, and... Well, let us just say that not only was I surprised, I... enjoyed myself.

Also, Zinny... That might be what we call club foot.

For quite some time, even before the furry fandom, I have come to realize that my interests are not like most other people my age.  My interests are distinctive, and as a consequence they have inhibited efforts to find people with whom I share commonality.  I am not simply talking about the commonality of anthropomorphic fascination that we all share in this place; my personal interests are greatly disconnected from the greater mass of Furries within the fandom.  Now if you can prove me wrong, do so aptly, because I am always want to find persons who share my inclinations.

I do not like techno or trance music.  I believe music (especially dance music) ought to dance outside of constrictions.

I do not like the great mass of pop, rock, rap and R+B that had overtaken the contemporary music industry, believing it to have lost purpose, soul, and spirit.

I do not like the majority of anime.  It looks displeasing and discomforting.

I do not read comic books or graphic novels.

I do not read modern science fiction or fantasy.

However...

I do LOVE music created during a golden age that lasted from the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s.  It touches me with its purpose, soul, and spirit.

I do also enjoy listening to The Great American Songbook, which has a cerebral wordiness and class.

I do watch movies mainly created before my birth (1983), because the sheer cornucopia of quality choices exists and is often accessible at rates substantially below the price of a modern theater ticket.

I do prefer any feature film or TV series that is filmed in Japanese "suitmation": i.e. theatrically-trained stuntmen in rubber suits stomping model cities.

I do read classic novels, biographies, and history studies.

I like to eat things with my face. :-3
I've said and done things I regret here, so I just don't do anything instead.

Hadlock

Video games turned me furry :D

I don't get turned on by porn. Yes, that includes furry porn. My view is "Why look at others getting laid, when I can get laid myself."

Only porn I'd ever look at and get turned on by is if it's someone screwing me.

Before someone accuses me of not being a furry for not liking the porn, I will say this. The porn does not make you a furry. The fandom is not all about the sex and fetishes. That would be like me saying someone isn't a raver because they don't eat, sleep, and breathe PLUR and EDM like I do.

Hadlock

i don't like the furs who are all for sex sex sex, and "joined" the fandom because of the porn. Its those "furs" that  boast the worst stereotype of the fandom.

Not to be mean or anything but its not so easy for everyone and sexual frustration is like all the depression from being single and wanting someone + all the subconscious anger and envy of others mixed in one feeling :/... Ah crap I need to start drinking

Actually, that's exactly the stereotype I try to fight.  No, I do not agree that most of the fandom is into 'furry' for sex.

I believe all 18 to 25 year olds are mostly into life for sex.

Whether they're furry or not has nothing to do with it.  We just have more options on how to do it :)

This is what I meant with being open about it.

I don't like that either but it is the reality. I'm guilty here x3. Though would be really cool to find someone into digimon or pokemon that would be interesting in some battle rp, art or even some sort of real life activity involving fighting eachother (not killing or badly hurting more like a sparring thing) in fursuits or implementing our characters fighting abilities as far as creativity and science lets us.

Or a lonely painful life filled with rejection pressure and anxienty.... I really need a drink now.   Sorry I'm kind of stressed tonight can't sleep and all I have to do right now is lurk on the forums or FA *double facepalm*

...Have to agree with Zinny here. What brought my attention to the fandom -might- have been porn, but that doesn't mean that I am here for it... And, because I am in that certain age bracket doesn't mean I just live for sex. I have barely had sexual encounters, all of them until recently having been rather bad.

Essentially, unless I find myself able to trust the person and feel comfortable around them... I will do nothing with them.

This community, I joined because of its interconnectivity on a family-like level as opposed to the physically stereotyped level that has been interspaced within modern media about this 'sub-culture'. I love how we are all able to enjoy things with each other, whether it is our creativity, enjoy letting our inner child out (*tugs on Zinny's tail* :3) without fear of being chastised (unless we are at an outing and such behaviour is not called upon for the situation, or there are ground rules set against that behaviour, etc), and we are able to partake, share, and enjoy things like food, entertainment and other such things that we all can partake in like close friends and family do/can/will.

Porn had little to do with my getting into the fandom; in fact, the first awareness I had of there being a furry fandom was seeing the cover of Steve Galacci's Albedo #0 in a comic price guide and thinking "... okay, a squirrel slaving away at a drawing table... I need to check that out." Of course, when I got online and discovered there was vast amounts of porn that had an immediate interest. =P

I agree, though, it's tough sometimes to be part of the fandom when there are people who take it to the extremes of "I'm in it to get laid" - and we all have run across them at times, right? Yeah, sexuality is probably a part of it, but that's not exclusive to furry - it's just an unfortunate situation that it's the focal point for so many people outside of the fandom to take potshots at.

And to keep this on topic, my confession is that I have a stash of 1980s-early 1990s furry comics that have very little sex in them! Shocking, isn't it? (Just pay no attention to the single issue of Omaha I was able to find...)
