Carthage

Hmmm, food-related thread. Me likey.

Too bad nothing I cook takes less than about two hours to prepare :P

I made spaghetti sauce the other day that took five hours. The prep took about 20 minutes, it was the cook time that took forever. It tastes AMAZING though!

To be fair, I subscribe to the so-called "Slow Food" school of cooking. In other words, soups and stews, roasts, smoked meats and all those things that take a good long time to prepare properly. I prefer to put time into my food, and care into my cooking and recipes. Don't think that this means I'm lazy. Slow food often requires more attention and care than some of the faster cooking foods we eat.

Maybe one day I'll bring some soup to a furmeet.

Not my recipe, but this one for oven-braised ribs, using a dry rub, was incredibly good and is relatively easy to make (even if it does take a few hours to do properly). Highly recommended if you want a sweet-and-spicy meat feast.

I agree whole heartedly. Braising is maybe my favourite thing to do. Six hour lamb shanks or short ribs...melt in your mouth, not in your hand.

I'm big on soups and stews, but I love braising too. Lamb is definitely a winner there.
