Hello.  If I were a Fox you would see me coming into this circle with my head down low, my ears bent, my tail tucked close and my desperation of trying not to shiver.  Why should I be so meek?  We are all sitting here united in common interest, are we not? True, but we are also individuals.  We are all capable of rejection, and I have known much social rejection in my life.  So you will all forgive me if my concerns for making a good impression on all of you seem to overwhelm your first impressions of me.  I am not used to being noticed, especially by those whose opinions matter so greatly to me.

I have known about Furries ever since I discovered The Fursuit Archive.  Mascots and Disneyland Characters (well, their Furcharacters at any rate) have always attracted me, despite the fact that in actuality until very recently I never possessed the courage to approach one.  At first I thought being Furry was all about wearing Fursuits.  This belief persisted until 2007, when I made my first contact in the Fandom.  My first furry friend, who has since become the most wonderful person in my life, became in a sense my Furry tutor.  This insightful person showed me that, yes, I too was a furry, had probably always been one but was only now realizing it.  I have always gravitated towards anthropomorphic characters.  When he wanted to know what kind of animal I felt like, I was never able to offer one, just a menagerie of favorites.  One night in January 2008, he came to me saying that he thought I was a Fox.  He never said I had to agree with him or that his pronouncement was final, and whatever he said I was prepared to dispute.  But when he said Fox there was nothing I could offer against it.  The Fox had never been on my list of favorite animals, but for reasons and motives I shall never be able to decipher it made perfect sense.  Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the first movie I ever saw was The Fox and The Hound, and I watched Robin Hood repeatedly as a child.  Then my friend combined this species with my username (an old mispronunciation of the word "Undivided") and Univaded Fox was born.

I have actually known about this place for a while, but I never saw a reason to join because I felt there was nothing for me to contribute.  The Furry Fandom is a self-perpetuating organism free of an overarching guiding influence.  It thrives because of the efforts of the people who are its makeup.  What do I have to contribute to the Furry culture?  Well, I am an amateur historian, or at least that's what it says on my Bachelor of Arts.  When it came time to write my History Honours thesis, I spent three months researching the FF.  I have some perspective on youth based spectacular subcultures and alternative science fiction fandoms, to cobble together a very high-sounding sentence.  I seem to have a knack for creating videos with Vegas Movie Studio.  I am a remixer, one of the new breed combining established pieces of pop culture while trying to convince the copyright holders that we mean them no harm.  I have bought a camcorder recently.  I have decided to roll the dice and attend the Art Institute of Vancouver to pursue what I hope to make a career in digital film and video.  I have a finely tuned ear for classic rock and a deaf ear for contemporary music since the 1990s.  I have eclectic tastes that a lot of people my age do not seem to share.  I am about as mundane looking as they come and hope one day to wear my fursonality on the outside.

Is that anything to offer?  I do not know.  Perhaps I will never know unless I ask, and I have been quiet for far too long.  So here I am.  I hope I did not sound too overly dramatic or emo.  But I believe in honestly, and the honest truth is that since I started calling myself a Furry I have felt the bubble that I was trapped inside of expanding...but I am unsure exactly how to make it pop.

Gosh, I certainly must admit that you are well-spoken. I myself have little to offer but my friendship, and an invitation to hang out whenever you are nearby and want some company. Welcome to the forums, Mr. Fox, and I hope to hear more about you soon!

p.s. Love classic rock! I agree with your musical tastes :3

Welcome to the forums bud!

The thing with some furry personas is there's a bit of a stereotype that develops around many of them, and well, foxes are the promiscuous ones. Just thought I'd throw that out there for you in case you didn't know yet xD

*Shakes KodaOtter's paw and bows*  Thank you, KodaOtter.  You seem very warm and welcoming yourself, which I suppose is to be expected since Koda means "friend" in the Dakota language (and is also the name of one of my favorite Bears).

Thank you, mArZiPaN!.

Hello, KS_Naslund.  I appreciate your concerns. I am well familiar with the stereotypes of the deviously cunning/sexually promiscuous Fox.  This Fox is neither of those.  It is always fun to buck stereotypes.  ;D
